Measurements of Volatile Organic Compounds Using Proton Transfer Reaction – Mass Spectrometry during the MILAGRO 2006 Campaign [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2009
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were measured by proton transfer reaction – mass spectrometry (PTR-MS) on a rooftop in the urban mixed residential and industrial area North Northeast of downtown Mexico City as part of the Megacity Initiative – Local ...

Backbone Heterojunction Photocatalysts for Efficient Sacrificial Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, a ‘single‐component’ organic semiconductor photocatalyst is presented in which a molecular donor is bonded to a polymer acceptor. The resultant material demonstrates exceptional photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution in aqueous triethylamine with an outstanding external quantum efficiency of 38% at 420 nm.

Gas-Phase Reaction of trans-2-Methyl-2-butenal with Cl: Kinetics, Gaseous Products, and SOA Formation

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
The gas-phase reaction between trans-2-methyl-2-butenal and chlorine (Cl) atoms has been studied in a simulation chamber at 298 ± 2 K and 760 ± 5 Torr of air under free-NOx conditions. The rate coefficient of this reaction was determined as k = (2.45 ± 0.

Eddy covariance VOC emission and deposition fluxes above grassland using PTR-TOF [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2011
Eddy covariance (EC) is the preferable technique for flux measurements since it is the only direct flux determination method. It requires a continuum of high time resolution measurements (e.g. 5–20 Hz).

Tailoring Microstructure in Copper‐Based Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks for Enhanced Chemiresistive Sensing and Uptake of Sulfur Dioxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Precursor‐ and solvent‐mediated synthesis yields four Cu3(HHTP)2 morphologies with distinct physicochemical, sorption, and sensing properties toward SO2. Uptake capacities correlate with BET surface area, while sensing performance scales with particle aspect ratio.

Phenol as proton shuttle and buffer for lithium-mediated ammonia electrosynthesis

open access: yesNature Communications
Ammonia is a crucial component in the production of fertilizers and various nitrogen-based compounds. Now, the lithium-mediated nitrogen reduction reaction (Li-NRR) has emerged as a promising approach for ammonia synthesis at ambient conditions.

Tuning the Electronic Structure and Spin State of Fe─N─C Catalysts Using an Axial Oxygen Ligand and Fe Clusters for High‐Efficiency Rechargeable Zinc–Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A FeN4─O/Clu@NC‐0.1Ac catalyst containing atomically‐dispersed FeN4─O sites (medium‐spin Fe2+) and Fe clusters delivered a half‐wave potential of 0.89 V for ORR and an overpotential of 330 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for OER in 0.1 m KOH. When the catalyst was used in a rechargeable Zn–air battery, a power density of 284.5 mW cm−2 was achieved with excellent ...

Endothelial Cells Angiogenesis in Sulfated Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) Hydrogels Enhanced by Bioactive Glass‐Released Ions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanically tunable hydrogel composed of gelatin, chondroitin sulfate and laminin promotes angiogenesis in vitro without the supplement of growth factors. Endothelial cells morphogenesis was further enhanced by medium conditioned with bioactive glass 58S‐released ions (Ca and Si), thus offering a promising strategy to vascularize 3D tissue ...
