JWST Imaging of Edge-on Protoplanetary Disks. II. Appearance of Edge-on Disks with a Tilted Inner Region: Case Study of IRAS04302+2247

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present James Webb Space Telescope imaging from 2 to 21 μ m of the edge-on protoplanetary disk around the embedded young star IRAS04302+2247. The structure of the source shows two reflection nebulae separated by a dark lane.

Planet Formation Regulated by Galactic-scale Interstellar Turbulence

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Planet formation occurs over a few Myr within protoplanetary disks of dust and gas, which are often assumed to evolve in isolation. However, extended gaseous structures have been uncovered around many protoplanetary disks, suggestive of late-stage infall

Shadow-induced Warps in Protoplanetary Disks

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Shadows are commonly observed in protoplanetary disks in near-infrared (NIR) and (sub)millimeter images, often cast by misaligned inner disks or other obscuring material.

Observability of Substructures in the Planet-forming Disk in the (Sub)centimeter Wavelength with SKA and ngVLA

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Current imaging observations of protoplanetary disks using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) primarily focus on the submillimeter wavelength, leaving a gap in effective observational approaches for centimeter-sized dust, which is ...

SO Emission in the Dynamically Perturbed Protoplanetary Disks around CQ Tau and MWC 758

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report the serendipitous detection of the SO J _N  = 6 _5 –5 _4 (219.949 GHz) rotational transition in archival Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array observations of the spiral hosting protoplanetary disks around CQ Tau (with ≈4.9 σ ...
