The presence of interstellar complex organic molecules (COMs) has been baffling astrochemists for a long time. Methyl formate and glycolaldehyde are widely detected but their abundances mismatch kinetic astrochemical model predictions. Here, the formation of these two COMs is characterized onto a mixed ice surface, highlighting the importance of ...

Hydrodynamic Modeling of the Interaction of Winds within a Collapsing Turbulent Gas Cloud
By using the particle‐based code Gadget2, we follow the evolution of a gas giant molecular cloud, in which a set of gas particles representing the wind are created by a Monte Carlo scheme and suddenly move outwards from the cloud’s center. The particles representing the gas cloud initially have a velocity according to a turbulent spectrum built in a ...

PROTOSTARS AT LOW EXTINCTION IN ORION A [PDF]
ABSTRACT In the list of young stellar objects (YSOs) compiled by Megeath et al. for the Orion A molecular cloud, only 44 out of 1208 sources found projected onto low extinction ( mag) gas are identified as protostars.

Physicochemical Constraints on the Abiotic Polymerization of Nucleotides Into RNA
Abstract One of the key steps in the origin of life is the polymerization of nucleotides into nucleic acids like RNA. We have quantified the energetic impact of temperature, pressure, and composition on the polymerization of nucleotides into RNA using the Gibbs function. These Gibbs energies have been used to calculate the probability that a nucleotide

Rotational Spectroscopy of the Acetone‐Water Complex: Large Amplitude Motions
The structure and dynamics of the acetone‐water complex were explored using jet‐cooled rotational spectroscopy and computational chemistry calculations. Our detailed rot‐tunneling analyses of acetone‐H2O and −D2O revealed that the interaction with water disrupts the equivalence of the two methyl rotors, resulting in a significantly lower methyl rotor ...

Interacting jets from binary protostars [PDF]
We investigate potential models that could explain why multiple proto-stellar systems predominantly show single jets. During their formation, stars most frequently produce energetic outflows and jets. However, binary jets have only been observed in a very small number of systems. We model numerically 3D binary jets for various outflow parameters.

Formation of Methanol via Fischer‐Tropsch Catalysis by Cosmic Iron Sulphide
Periodic quantum mechanical simulations evidence the potentiality to synthesise methanol through a Fischer‐Tropsch mechanism in different astrophysical environments facilitated by the catalytic properties of cosmic FeS grains, which are enhanced by the presence of naturally‐occurring point surface defects.
