Constraining the abundances of complex organics in the inner regions of solar-type protostars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The high abundances of Complex Organic Molecules (COMs) with respect to methanol, the most abundant COM, detected towards low-mass protostars, tend to be underpredicted by astrochemical models.

Coevolution of phyllosilicate, carbon, sulfide, and apatite in Ryugu's parent body

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 59, Issue 8, Page 2073-2096, August 2024.
Abstract We analyzed an asteroid Ryugu sample returned to Earth by JAXA's Hayabusa2 mission using nanoIR, SEM, and TEM microscopy. We identified multiple distinct carbon reservoirs within the phyllosilicate matrix and demonstrate infrared spectral affinities for some of the carbon to insoluble organic matter (IOM).

The JWST-NIRCam View of Sagittarius C. I. Massive Star Formation and Protostellar Outflows

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) Near Infrared Camera observations of the massive star-forming molecular cloud Sagittarius C (Sgr C) in the Central Molecular Zone (CMZ).

Limitations of the modified blackbody fit method for determining molecular cloud properties

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 345, Issue 4, May 2024.
Abstract Achieving a comprehensive understanding of the star and planet formation process is one of the fundamental tasks of astrophysics, requiring detailed knowledge of the physical conditions during the different phases of this process. During the earliest stages, that is, concerning physical processes in molecular clouds and filaments, the column ...

Studying the Effect of Radiation Pressure on Evolution of a Population III Stellar Cluster

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Recent numerical simulations have shown that the unstable disk within the central regime of the primordial gas cloud fragments to form multiple protostars on several scales.

METHYL CYANIDE OBSERVATIONS TOWARD MASSIVE PROTOSTARS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2013
We report the results of a survey in the CH3CN J= 12-11 transition toward a sample of massive proto-stellar candidates. The observations were carried out with the 10 m Submillimeter telescope on Mount Graham, AZ. We detected this molecular line in 9 out of 21 observed sources. In six cases this is the first detection of this transition.

EVOLUTION OF MASS OUTFLOW IN PROTOSTARS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2016
ABSTRACT We have surveyed 84 Class 0, Class I, and flat-spectrum protostars in mid-infrared [Si ii], [Fe ii], and [S i] line emission, and 11 of these in far-infrared [O i] emission. We use the results to derive their mass outflow rates, .

Magnetic field measurements in a sample of Class I and flat-spectrum protostars observed with SPIRou

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Magnetic fields play a crucial role throughout stellar evolution in regulating angular momentum, channelling accretion, and launching jets and outflows.

JWST Peers into the Class I Protostar TMC1A: Atomic Jet and Spatially Resolved Dissociative Shock Region

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
Outflows and winds launched from young stars play a crucial role in the evolution of protostars and the early stages of planet formation. However, the specific details of the mechanism behind these phenomena, including how they affect the protoplanetary ...

Herschel far-infrared photometric monitoring of protostars in the Orion Nebula Cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We have obtained time series observations of the Orion Nebula Cluster at 70 microns and 160 microns from the Herschel/PACS Photometer. This represents the first wide-field far-infrared photometric monitoring of a young star forming region.
