Aerosols Contamination in the Dental Practice Following Everyday Procedures: An Observational Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dental Hygiene, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The purpose of the present observational study was to evaluate the bacterial load in the air following various dental procedures. Methods Air contamination following seven aerosol‐generating dental procedures was assessed. The air volume was sampled by a wet cyclone collector for 10 min during 10 sessions of the following procedures:

Pejerrey (Odontesthes bonariensis) Under Siege: Main Infectious Diseases and Their Role in Aquaculture and Wild Populations Amidst Environmental Change

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, Volume 48, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The pejerrey (Odontesthes bonariensis) is a key species for recreational and commercial fisheries in Argentina and holds significant aquaculture potential. It has been introduced to various countries worldwide, including Japan, where intensive aquaculture has developed.

Development of a Real‐Time PCR Assay for Noninvasive Detection of Miamiensis avidus in Olive Flounder Aquaculture

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Miamiensis avidus (syn. Philasterides dicentrarchi) leads to high mortality and economic losses in olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) aquaculture. In this study, we developed a real‐time PCR assay targeting the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (cox1) gene of M. avidus to sensitively detect and quantify the parasite in seawater.

Photodynamic therapy of cancer‐associated infections

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Pathogens can be involved in tumor initiation, promotion and progression through different mechanisms, and their treatment can prevent new cancer cases, improve outcomes, and revert poor‐prognostic phenotypes. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) successfully treats different types of cancers and infections, and, therefore, has a unique potential to address ...

Enhanced fluorescence emission or singlet oxygen production of cationic porphyrazines and porphyrins through combination with carbon dots

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
A cationic free‐base porphyrin and porphyrazine and their zinc(II) complexes were combined to carbon dots (CD). The macrocycles strongly interact with the nanoparticles, quenching the CD fluorescence and enhancing the fluorescence emission efficiency of a porphyrazine by 140% and the singlet oxygen production of a porphyrin by 70%.

Epidemiology and Molecular Characterization of Entamoeba spp. in Non-Human Primates in Zoos in China

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
The genus Entamoeba infects both humans and NHPs. In zoos, visitors feeding significantly increases the frequency of human-to-NHP contact, thereby raising the risk of zoonotic transmission.
