Innovative Integration of Layered Carbon Materials in Biopolymer Fibrous Membranes for Sustainable Water Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This review explores the progressive design of biopolymer‐based fibrous membranes enhanced with layered carbon materials such as MXene, graphene oxide, and carbon nanotubes. It highlights how their integration significantly boosts water filtration performance, selectivity, and antifouling properties.

Tailoring a Functional Synthetic Microbial Community Alleviates Fusobacterium nucleatum‐infected Colorectal Cancer via Ecological Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The bottom‐up strategy based on multiomics data is used for the SynCom design, and it successfully inhibited F. nucleatum growth and achieved stable colonization in vivo. In addition, it promoted tryptophan metabolism and secondary bile acid conversion, reduced lipid accumulation, relieved microbiome disorder, decreased inflammatory reaction, and ...

The role of the host—Neutrophil biology

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Neutrophilic polymorphonuclear leukocytes (neutrophils) are myeloid cells packed with lysosomal granules (hence also called granulocytes) that contain a formidable antimicrobial arsenal. They are terminally differentiated cells that play a critical role in acute and chronic inflammation, as well as in the resolution of inflammation and wound ...

Increased Expression of Multiple Co-Inhibitory Molecules on Malaria-Induced CD8+ T Cells Are Associated With Increased Function Instead of Exhaustion

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Activated cytotoxic CD8+ T cells can selectively kill target cells in an antigen-specific manner. However, their prolonged activation often has detrimental effects on tissue homeostasis and function.

Exact Solution of an Evolutionary Model without Ageing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We introduce an age-structured asexual population model containing all the relevant features of evolutionary ageing theories. Beneficial as well as deleterious mutations, heredity and arbitrary fecundity are present and managed by natural selection. An exact solution without ageing is found.

Engineered Tissue Models to Decode Host–Microbiota Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Host–Microbiota interactions in the human body. Created in BioRender. Ghezzi, C. (2025) https://BioRender.com/ihivskg. Abstract A mutualistic co‐evolution exists between the host and its associated microbiota in the human body. Bacteria establish ecological niches in various tissues of the body, locally influencing their physiology and functions, but ...

Plants, plant‐derived compounds, probiotics, and postbiotics as green agents to fight against poultry coccidiosis: A review

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Therapeutic effect of natural products on chicken coccidiosis. Abstract The intestinal tract is the main place for animals to digest food and absorb nutrients, which also serves as the first line of defense against pathogens that invade the internal environment.

Comprehensive Characterization of Toxoplasma Acyl Coenzyme A-Binding Protein TgACBP2 and Its Critical Role in Parasite Cardiolipin Metabolism

open access: yesmBio, 2018
Acyl coenzyme A (CoA)-binding protein (ACBP) can bind acyl-CoAs with high specificity and affinity, thus playing multiple roles in cellular functions. Mitochondria of the apicomplexan parasite Toxoplasma gondii have emerged as key organelles for lipid ...
