Declining Trends in Gastrointestinal Parasitic Infections Among Nepalese School Children: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis (2004–2022)

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
This meta‐analysis of 25 studies (17,628 children) shows a substantial decline in gastrointestinal parasitic infections in Nepal from 43.4% to 24.2% between 2004 and 2022. Helminths (20.0%) remained more common than protozoa (9.9%), with slightly higher prevalence in urban (29.0%) than rural areas (27.9%). ABSTRACT Background Gastrointestinal parasitic

Molecular Identification and Subtype Analysis of Blastocystis sp. Isolates from Wild Mussels (Mytilus edulis) in Northern France

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Blastocystis sp. is the most common single-celled eukaryote colonizing the human gastrointestinal tract worldwide. Because of the proven zoonotic potential of this protozoan, sustained research is therefore focused on identifying various reservoirs of ...

Blastocystis Sp: a Neglected Zoonotic Protozoan [PDF]

open access: yes
The significance of Blastocystis as a cause of human and animal disease remains unknown. It has been suggested that the organism is zoonotic. This study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of Blastocystis sp in stray dogs, which may be ...

Molecular Detection and Genetic Diversity of Bat‐Associated Bartonella spp. in Bat Ectoparasites Collected From Ratchaburi Province, Thailand

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 2, March 2026.
Bat ectoparasites collected from four insectivorous bat species were identified through mitochondrial gene analysis. This study provides the first evidence of bat‐associated Bartonella species in ectoparasites, including bat flies (Phthiridium sp., Raymondia sp.

Molecular Detection of Toxoplasma gondii in Chickens and Ruminants: A Study From Kassena‐Nankana Districts, Ghana

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges
Toxoplasma gondii is a zoonotic protozoan that poses serious threats to public health through contaminated animal products. The frequent interactions between inhabitants in the Kassena–Nankana districts and livestock increase the risk of zoonotic ...

Eimeria tenella protein trafficking: differential regulation of secretion versus surface tethering during the life cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Eimeria spp. are intracellular parasites that have a major impact on poultry. Effective live vaccines are available and the development of reverse genetic technologies has raised the prospect of using Eimeria spp.

Prevalence of intestinal trichomonads in captive non-human primates in China

open access: yesParasite
Trichomonads are protozoan symbionts with the capacity to infect vertebrates including humans and non-human primates (NHPs), sometimes with pathogenic effects. However, their diversity and prevalence in NHPs in China are poorly understood. A total of 533
