Cortical oscillations are modified by expertise in dance and music: Evidence from live dance audience

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 60, Issue 8, Page 6000-6014, October 2024.
We recorded EEG from dancers, musicians and novices as they watched a live dance performance. The results indicated that dance experts have greater neural synchronization in theta frequencies compared with novices, likely reflecting real‐world experience combining multisensory, cognitive, aesthetic and social interaction processes.

Reduced spatial frequency differentiation and sex‐related specificities in fearful face detection in autism: Insights from EEG and the predictive brain model

open access: yesAutism Research, Volume 17, Issue 9, Page 1778-1795, September 2024.
Abstract Face processing relies on predictive processes driven by low spatial frequencies (LSF) that convey coarse information prior to fine information conveyed by high spatial frequencies. However, autistic individuals might have atypical predictive processes, contributing to facial processing difficulties.

N400 or P600?—A Systematic Review of ERP Studies on Gender Stereotype Violations

open access: yesLanguage and Linguistics Compass, Volume 18, Issue 5, September/October 2024.
ABSTRACT Psycholinguistic studies using the event‐related brain potential (ERP) technique have found both N400 and P600 effects for gender stereotype violations. The finding of a P600 effect for this type of world knowledge violation is surprizing given that this component is traditionally associated with syntactic violations. In this paper, we set out
