Color stability of provisional crown and fixed partial denture resins

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2005
Provisional resins are used extensively during fixed prosthodontic treatment and exhibit varying degrees of color change/discoloration over time. Data are needed to help predict color stability of provisional resins. The purpose of this in vitro study was to measure the color change of 12 provisional prosthodontic materials after immersion in artificial

Temperature rise in the pulp chamber during fabrication of provisional crowns

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1989
This study measured and compared thermal changes in the pulp chamber during the fabrication of provisional crowns by direct method using various brands of autopolymerizing resin systems. The effect of curing the crowns in condensation and addition-reaction silicone putty matrices was also evaluated.

Effects of relining on long-term marginal stability of provisional crowns

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1995
Provisional resins crowns are commonly placed to protect prepared teeth, but the marginal adaptation of interim crowns has always been a problem. These experiments examined the effects of thermocycling and occlusal loading on relined and unrelined polymethyl methacrylate resin transitional crowns.

Use of a Novel Resin Composite Crown as a Long-Term Provisional

Dental Update, 2009
Crowns may be indicated to restore teeth where there is substantial tooth substance loss from caries or trauma, but it is not always appropriate to place the substantive restoration without reviewing the prognosis of the tooth under treatment for a time. In such cases, the placement of a long-term provisional restoration may be indicated.

Fabrication of a New Crown and Provisional to an Existing Removable Partial Denture

Journal of Prosthodontics, 1995
A method of fabricating a new crown to an existing removable partial denture is described. A press‐form plastic shell made from the diagnostic cast provides the outer contours for the abutment tooth, while an acrylic resin coping is fabricated on a die to provide accurate internal adaptation. The acrylic resin coping is seated on the prepared abutment.

Flexural strength of provisional crown and fixed partial denture resins

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2002
Provisional prostheses are subject to flexure under function. Selection of the appropriate material for their fabrication is difficult given the limited evidence-based information on the flexural strength of provisional resins. This study compared the flexural strength of 5 methacrylate-based resins and 8 bis-acryl resins used to fabricate provisional ...

Evaluation of vertical marginal adaptation of provisional crowns by digital microscope

Nigerian Journal of Clinical Practice, 2017
To investigate and compare the degree of vertical marginal discrepancy of four provisional crown materials by digital microscope.A total of 100 provisional crowns were fabricated on standardized resin dies by direct technique of provisional fabrication, using four different provisional materials (n = 25): Provisionals Fabricated by Systemp® c and b II,

Effect of cement application techniques on the adaptation and retention of provisional crowns

Technology and Health Care, 2018
BACKGROUND: A well-made and properly cemented provisional restoration is essential for the health of abutment teeth and periodontium. Few focused studies are available on the effect of cementation techniques on the fit as well as on the retention of the provisional crowns. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of six cement application techniques on the

Evaluating the fracture strength of three different provisional crowns

2010
With the advent of new provisional crown materials, it has become imperative to evaluate their strength in order to select the appropriate crown material. This study examined the fracture resistance of three different provisional materials. To simulate oral conditions, the specimens were fabricated in brass molds, ensuring their similarity to premolars.
