On Best Proximity Point Theorems without Ordering
Recently, Basha (2013) addressed a problem that amalgamates approximation and optimization in the setting of a partially ordered set that is endowed with a metric.

Best proximity point theorems for proximal multi-valued contractions
In this paper, we introduce new classes of proximal multi-valued contractions in a metric space and proximal multi-valued nonexpansive mappings in a Banach space and show the existence of best proximity points for both classes. Further, for proximal multi-valued nonexpansive mappings, we prove a best proximity point theorem on starshape ...

The mechano-chemistry of cytoskeletal force generation [PDF]
In this communication, we propose a model to study the non-equilibrium process by which actin stress fibers develop force in contractile cells. The emphasis here is on the non-equilibrium thermodynamics, which is necessary to address the mechanics as ...

Best Proximity Point Theorem for φ ̃–ψ ̃-Proximal Contractive Mapping in Fuzzy Normed Space
The study of fixed points on the maps fulfilling certain contraction requirements has several applications and has been the focus of numerous research endeavors.

Muscle force is determined also by muscle relative position: isolated effects [PDF]
Effects on force of changes of the position of extensor digitorum longus muscle (EDL) relative to surrounding tissues were investigated in rat. Connective tissue at the muscle bellies of tibialis anterior (TA), extensor hallucis longus (EHL) and EDL was ...

Best proximity point theorems for cyclic generalized proximal contractions [PDF]
AbstractIn this paper we introduce the notion of a cyclic generalized proximal contraction, and then prove some best proximity point theorems in metric spaces. We will provide examples to illustrate our results.

PDEs with Compressed Solutions [PDF]
Sparsity plays a central role in recent developments in signal processing, linear algebra, statistics, optimization, and other fields. In these developments, sparsity is promoted through the addition of an $L^1$ norm (or related quantity) as a constraint

Best proximity point results for modified α-proximal C-contraction mappings [PDF]

Existence of best proximity points for controlled proximal contraction [PDF]
AbstractIn this paper, we investigate the sufficient condition for the existence of best proximity points for non-self-multivalued mappings. Additionally, we discuss the stability theorem for such mappings. Our results improve and generalize some existing results on the topic in the literature, in particular, the results of Lim and of Abkar and Gabeleh.
