Proximal femoral nail- outcome and complications: a prospective study of 125 cases of proximal femoral fractures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017

Background: Fractures of the proximal femur are relatively common injuries in adults and common source of morbidity and mortality among the elderly. Fractures of the proximal

Study of effectiveness of coxofemoral bypass in comparison to proximal femoral nail in the treatment of unstable intertrochanteric fractures in the elderly

open access: yesJournal of Orthopedics, Traumatology and Rehabilitation, 2018
Background: Osteosynthesis of unstable intertrochanteric (IT) fractures in geriatric population needs prolonged bed rest to prevent implant failure, which in turn results in complications such as pressure sore and pulmonary infection.

The influence of proximal femur CT value on stress distribution and stability in intertrochanteric fracture after PFNA fixation: a finite element analysis

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders
Purpose This study was conducted to develop a finite element analysis (FEA) model for proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) fixation for intertrochanteric femoral fractures, aiming to analyze the effects of varying proximal femur trabecular bone CT ...

A prospective study of management of subtrochanteric femur fracture using proximal femoral nail [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background: Proximal femur fractures present considerable challenge in management. They are due to high velocity trauma, with or without soft tissue injury and usually with a metaphyseal and diaphyseal involvement. The surgeon has to face many challenges

Use of trochanteric nail for proximal femoral extracapsular fractures.

open access: yes, 2006
Proximal femoral extracapsular fractures have shown a significantly high morbidity and mortality rate at 1 year in cases of nonoperative treatment. The standard gamma nail was originally designed to provide stable fixation and allow early mobilization ...

Evaluation of Functional and Radiological Outcome of Different Cephalomedullary Nail Designs in Intertrochanteric Fractures of Femur

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Case Reports
Introduction: The incidence of intertrochanteric (IT) fracture is rising because of increase in the survival of the elderly population with osteoporosis and also the increase in the number of motor vehicle accidents.

The use of a proximal femoral nail as a hip prosthesis: A biomechanical analysis of a newly designed implant [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Complication rates of hip fractures after proximal femoral nail are not rare. In such fractures, treatment invariably comprises the extraction of proximal femoral nail and the introduction of a different hip prosthesis. To solve this problem, we aimed to

Treatment of Femoral Intertrochanteric Fracture with Proximal Femoral Nail

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Fracture Society, 2004

Cutout of proximal femoral nail antirotation resulting from blocking of the gliding mechanism during fracture collapse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The proximal femoral nail antirotation had been successful in treating unstable trochanteric fractures. Previous studies have shown technical problems such as unsatisfactory fracture reduction, poor insertion technique, and poor blade position leading to
