Impact of Circular Stapler Size on Short‐Term Outcomes and Long‐Term Quality of Life After McKeown Esophagectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In this study, we investigated the impact of circular stapler size on both short‐term outcomes and long‐term QOL after McKeown esophagectomy. We revealed that short‐term outcomes, including anastomotic leakage and stenosis, did not differ between patients who underwent anastomosis with a 21 mm stapler and those with a 23 mm stapler.

Safety and Feasibility of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Cooperative Surgery With Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection for Large Superficial Non‐Ampullary Duodenal Epithelial Tumors

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for large superficial non‐ampullary duodenal epithelial tumors (SNADETs) poses substantial technical challenges, primarily because of a heightened risk of adverse events (AEs). Laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery (D‐LECS) was introduced to address these risks, with recent ...

Prognostic significance of post-operative morbidity severity score after potentially curative D2 gastrectomy for carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background Survival and relapse after gastric cancer surgery are largely attributed to tumor biology and surgical radicality; yet, other prognostic factors have been reported, including respiratory sepsis and anastomotic leakage, but not global ...

Outcomes of Pancreas‐Sparing Total Duodenectomy for Severe Duodenal Polyposis in Patients With Familial Adenomatous Polyposis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Spigelman stage IV duodenal polyposis (SP‐stage IV DP) is associated with high duodenal cancer risk in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). This study evaluated the surgical and oncological outcomes of pancreas‐sparing total duodenectomy (PSTD) as a surgical prophylaxis for severe duodenal polyposis in FAP.

A Case of Laparoscopic Resection for Carcinoma of the Gastric Remnant following Proximal Gastrectomy Reconstructed with Jejunal Interposition

open access: yesCase Reports in Surgery, 2016
A 72-year-old Japanese man had a history of proximal gastrectomy for early gastric cancer located in the upper third of the stomach in 2007. Our usual treatment strategy for early gastric cancer in the upper third of the stomach in 2007 was open proximal

THE CHOICE OF SURGICAL TACTICS BASED ON THE RESULTS OF PIGMENTED LIMPHOGRAPHY FOR PATIENTS WITH LOCALLY ADVANCED PROXIMAL GASTRIC CANCER

open access: yesСибирский онкологический журнал, 2017
Introduction. The lack of low-cost and available methods for the diagnosis of lymph node metastasis from gastric cancer and the standards of surgery for proximal gastric cancer is a hot topic for research.

Precise role of H pylori in duodenal ulceration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The facts that H pylori infection is commoner in duodenal ulcer (DU) patients than in the normal population, and that eradication results in most cases being cured, have led to the belief that it causes DU. However, early cases of DU are less likely than

Risk Factors for Anastomotic Stricture and Obstructive Symptoms Following Double‐Flap Technique Reconstruction After Proximal Gastrectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This retrospective study investigated risk factors for anastomotic stricture and obstructive symptoms following double‐flap technique (DFT) reconstruction after proximal gastrectomy. Mucosal detachment, potentially caused by thermal damage, was identified as a significant risk factor for anastomotic stricture, while continuous suturing at the esophago ...

Minimally invasive surgery in gastric cancer [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2015
Gastric cancer surgery with curative intent comprises subtotal or total gastrectomy with radical lymph node dissection. Recently, as the incidence of early gastric cancer (EGC) is increasing, minimally invasive surgery can be applied to gastric cancer ...
