Arthroscopic Upper Third Subscapularis Tendon Repair Using H‐Loop Technique: A Case Series

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1525-1535, May 2025.
The images show the surgical technique. (a) Partial subscapularis tendon tear; (b) A PDS suture is passed through the medial and distal edges of the tear and tied at the end to bring in a #2 Fiber Wire suture; (c) Another PDS suture is passed through the tear and inside the loop; (d) The end of the PDS suture is tied, securing both tails of the #2 ...

Pathologic fracture does not influence prognosis in stage IIB osteosarcoma: a case–control study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
OBJECTIVE: This study tested the implication of pathologic fractures on the prognosis in stage IIb osteosarcoma. METHODS: A single center retrospective evaluation of clinical management and oncologic outcome was conducted with 15 pathological fracture ...

Mechanical Evaluation of Suture Docking Method Versus Novel Tensegrity Suture Screw in Treating Varus Posterolateral Surrogate and Cadaveric Elbow Instability

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
Three‐point bending tests in foam and cadaveric elbows consistently showed superior performance of novel TEN elbow screws in restoring elbow instability in contrast to CON docking method. TEN increased mechanical strength, enhanced suture‐screw‐bone fixation via appropriate junctional loading, and technical ease for suture tensioning.

Influence of trabecular microstructure and cortical index on the complexity of proximal humeral fractures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objectives: Poor bone quality increases the susceptibility to fractures of the proximal humerus. It is unclear whether local trabecular and cortical measures influence the severity of fracture patterns.

Is minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis superior to open plating for fixation of two-part fracture of the proximal humerus?

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery, 2019
Purpose: Displaced two-part fractures of the proximal humerus are generally treated with open plate (OP) fixation. Recently, minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) has been increasingly favored for fracture healing and functional recovery.

Double plate fixation improves stiffness in a comminuted canine scapula fracture gap model compared to single plate fixation

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To determine whether a secondary plate on the caudolateral aspect of the scapula increases stiffness and reduces primary plate strain compared to a single plate along the cranial scapula spine in a comminuted fracture gap model. Study design Ex vivo mechanical study. Sample population A total of 14 paired canine scapulae.

Mechanical Characterization of Fourth Generation Composite Humerus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Mechanical data on upper extremity surrogate bones, supporting use as biomechanical tools, is limited. The objective of this study was to characterize the structural behaviour of the fourth-generation composite humerus under simulated physiologic bending,
