Capacitive Proximity Sensor for Chainsaw Safety
2009This work describes a customized capacitive sensor for the safety of a chainsaw. The sensor reveals the closeness of a dangerous object, in general a hand tool such as a chainsaw, to the operator body. The operator has to dress a garment with a wire cloth inserted, connected to a radio–frequency generator.

A Proximity and Tactile Sensor with Visual Multiresponse
ACS Applied Materials & InterfacesProximity and tactile multiresponse sensing electronic skin enriches the perception dimension, which is of great significance in promoting the intelligence of electronic skin. However, achieving real-time visualization in sensors such as proximity and tactile feedback remains a challenge. A proximity and tactile sensor with visual function is designed,

Characteristics and signal processing of a proximity sensor
Robotica, 1994SUMMARYThis paper presents a fibre optic proximity sensor suitable for robotic applications. The sensor characteristics are first identified through experiments. Then the signal processing problem is studied for general applications where no prior knowledge of the sensor environment is assumed.

Proximal-field radiation sensors
2017 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS), 2017Proximal-Field Radiation Sensors (PFRS) are introduced as a new set of tools to enable extraction of far-field radiation properties of integrated antennas from the surface waves inside their dielectric substrates. These sensors allow self-characterization, self-calibration, and self-monitoring of the radiation performance for both printed circuit board

The design of a proximity inductive sensor
Measurement Science and Technology, 1998In this paper we discuss the advantages of flat coil inductive proximity sensors. The coil copper helix may be realized by application of a photoengraving technique to two side-printed boards by a very cheap process. The low thickness allows one to get the coil closer to the target. This fact allows one to attain a higher sensitivity.

Proximity Matrix Sensor Image Processing
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1991Abstract Proximity matrix sensors are usually placed in the robot end-effector. If manipulation of the objects is to be performed, these sensors enable the robot control system to determine the relative position and orientation of the end-effector and the objective surface before gripping the object.

Development of a robotic proximity sensor
Fifth International Conference on Advanced Robotics 'Robots in Unstructured Environments, 1991The design and analysis of anoncontact electro-optical proximity sensor, based on the intensity measurement of modulated light signals reflected from the surface of an object, is addressed in this paper. The proposed sensor is capable of measuring one-dimensional inclination angles in the range of +20 degrees to -20 degrees , and distances of up to 7.5

Polarization interferometer as a proximity sensor
Optics & Laser Technology, 2000A simple interferometric phasemeter which can be used as a proximity sensor is described. It is based on the measurement of the phase shift between the p- and s- components of a field caused by the processes of attenuation in total internal reflection. The role of the interferometer is to restore the p- and the s- components from the resultant totally ...
