Kako su se povećavali obimi korpusa te napredovali alati za pronalaženje različitih leksičkih pojmova za različite svrhe, lingvisti su počeli detaljnije analizirati ta dva pojma.

The vowel system of the Pašušvis dialect of the west Aukštaitian šiauliškiai sub-dialect consists of 14 phonemes. The long vowels are /i• ie ė• a• o• uo u•/, the short ones – /a /, closed and open vowels are /i u/. The only relevant position of the closed phonemes /i/, /u/ is the final syllable.
