Transcriptome and phenotyping analyses support a role for chloroplast sigma factor 2 in red‐light‐dependent regulation of growth, stress, and photosynthesis

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 2, Issue 2, February 2018., 2018
Abstract Sigma factor (SIG) proteins contribute to promoter specificity of the plastid‐encoded RNA polymerase during chloroplast genome transcription. All six members of the SIG family, that is, SIG1–SIG6, are nuclear‐encoded proteins targeted to chloroplasts. Sigma factor 2 (SIG2) is a phytochrome‐regulated protein important for stoichiometric control

Analysis of Gene Expression Profiles in Leaf Tissues of Cultivated Peanuts and Development of EST‐SSR Markers and Gene Discovery

open access: yesInternational Journal of Plant Genomics, Volume 2009, Issue 1, 2009., 2009
Peanut is vulnerable to a range of foliar diseases such as spotted wilt caused by Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), early (Cercospora arachidicola) and late (Cercosporidium personatum) leaf spots, southern stem rot (Sclerotium rolfsii), and sclerotinia blight (Sclerotinia minor).

Integrated Multi‐Omic Analyses Uncover a Regulatory Link Between Photosynthesis and Drought Tolerance in Field‐Grown Sorghum

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Global warming and increasing water scarcity pose major challenges to agriculture, emphasising the need to translate stress‐biology insights into the development of drought‐resilient cultivars. In this study, we evaluated a panel of six diverse sorghum (Sorghum bicolour) accessions grown under field‐imposed drought conditions in central ...

The blue–green light‐dependent state transition in the marine phytoplankton Ostreococcus tauri

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 244, Issue 5, Page 1837-1846, December 2024.
Summary We explored the adaptive mechanisms of Ostreococcus tauri, a marine picophytoplankton with a ubiquitous ocean presence. We aimed to understand its photosynthetic acclimation, as featured in the cryo‐EM structure of its photosystem I (PSI) supercomplex.

Photosystem rearrangements, photosynthetic efficiency, and plant growth in far red‐enriched light

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 120, Issue 6, Page 2536-2552, December 2024.
SUMMARY Arabidopsis plants were grown in white light (400–700 nm) or in white light supplemented with far‐red (FR) light peaking at 730 nm. FR‐enriched light induced the typical shade avoidance syndrome characterized by enhanced length of seedling hypocotyl and leaf petiole.

Proteomic analysis of near‐isogenic lines reveals key biomarkers on wheat chromosome 4B conferring drought tolerance

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 17, Issue 1, March 2024.
Abstract Drought is a major constraint for wheat production that is receiving increased attention due to global climate change. This study conducted isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation proteomic analysis on near‐isogenic lines to shed light on the underlying mechanism of qDSI.4B.1 quantitative trait loci (QTL) on the short arm of ...
