Pseudo first-order reaction rate constant for the formation of hydroxymethylhydroperoxide from formaldehyde and hydrogen peroxide

open access: yesAtmospheric Environment (1967), 1988
Abstract H2O2(0.5−4.0 × 10−5M) and H2CO (0.0075–0.1 M) were reacted in aqueous solutions buffered at pH between 4.0 and 6.9. The reaction rate constant (k) in d[H 2 O 2 ] dt = k[H 2 O 2 ] [H 2 CO] [H + was determined to be (6.47 ±0.11) × 10 −8 s −1 at 22°C.

Adsorption of Acid Red 18 (AR18) by Activated Carbon from Poplar Wood- A Kinetic and Equilibrium Study

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2010
Adsorption process by activated carbon is widely used for removal of dyes. Because of economical limits, activated carbon derived from low cost materials seem to be economical.

PSEUDO-FIRST-ORDER PHASE TRANSITION IN ONE DIMENSION

open access: yesPSEUDO-FIRST-ORDER PHASE TRANSITION IN ONE DIMENSION
A study is made of the one-dimensional Landau-Ginzburg system with Ψ^6 term, a model of the first-order phase transition. Fluctuations are taken into account by means of the WKB method. It is pointed out that the first-order phase transition is smeared by the formation of soliton or domain walls between two coexisting phases.

Metoprolol Tartrate Drug Loading and Release from Prepared Mesoporous Silica; Kinetic of Adsorption and Release

open access: yesIbn Al-Haitham Journal for Pure and Applied Sciences
Mesoporous silica was developed to transport metoprolol tartrate (MPT). The data obtained from the kinetic experiments of adsorption of 15 ppm of MPT drug at 293 K was fitted in the pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and intraparticle diffusion ...

An Ozone Consumption Model with Two Second-Order Reactions: Extending the Initial Ozone Demand/Pseudo-First-Order Model

open access: yesOzone: Science & Engineering
In the study and management of ozonation, a model that describes ozone (O3) concentration dynamics is a fundamental framework. However, the conventional initial O3 demand/pseudo-first-order model (IPM) is strongly dependent on the O3 dose and consequently constrains both basic and applied research.
