Robust Cooperative Manipulation without Force/Torque Measurements: Control Design and Experiments

open access: yes, 2019
This paper presents two novel control methodologies for the cooperative manipulation of an object by N robotic agents. Firstly, we design an adaptive control protocol which employs quaternion feedback for the object orientation to avoid potential ...

Sliding-mode control of a flexure based mechanism using piezoelectric actuators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The position control of designed 3 PRR flexure based mechanism is examined in this paper. The aims of the work are to eliminate the parasitic motions of the stage, misalignments of the actuators, errors of manufacturing and hysteresis of the system by ...

Spatially Tailorable Liquid Crystalline Elastomer Alignment During Digital Light Process 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we report the fabrication of 3D printable liquid crystalline elastomer (LCE) structures with spatially tailorable alignment domains within the same layer. This work addresses the long‐standing challenge of preparing complex 3D LCE architectures with patterned functional domains to achieve nonlinear deformations. Fabrication of multi‐domains in 3D

The Distribution Function of a Probability Measure on a Linearly Ordered Topological Space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we describe a theory of a cumulative distribution function on a space with an order from a probability measure defined in this space. This distribution function plays a similar role to that played in the classical case. Moreover, we define

From Mechanics to Electronics: Influence of ALD Interlayers on the Multiaxial Electro‐Mechanical Behavior of Metal–Oxide Bilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrathin AlOxHy interlayers between aluminum films and polymer substrates significantly improve electro‐mechanical properties of flexible thin film systems. By precisely controlling interlayer thickness using atomic layer deposition, this study identifies an optimal interlayer thickness of 5–10 nm that enhances ductility and delays cracking.

An Inverse Model for Raindrop Size Distribution Retrieval with Polarimetric Variables

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
This paper proposes an inverse model for raindrop size distribution (DSD) retrieval with polarimetric radar variables. In this method, a forward operator is first developed based on the simulations of monodisperse raindrops using a T-matrix method, and ...

Tomographic pseudo-inversion of resistivity profiles

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 1997
A new approach to construct vertical and/or horizontal pseudosections starting from sets of resistivity (and/or IP) data is presented. In principle it consists in the division of the subsoil into a number of pixels (discretization), arranged in a 3D halfspace.

BACH, a Bayesian Optimization Protocol for Accurate Coarse‐Grained Parameterization of Organic Liquids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.

On the Dispersion Measures of Complex Uncertain Random Variables

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In probability theory, variance is a device to measure dispersion of random variable from its mean. In order to explain complex uncertain random variable, variance and pseudo-variance are provided.

In‐Situ Solution Complexation for n‐Type Surface‐Energetics Reconstruction in 2.0 eV Ultra‐Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A reactive in situ solution complexation strategy reconstructs the surface of 2.0 eV ultra‐wide‐bandgap perovskites via proton transfer. This chemical modulation eliminates metallic defects and induces a degenerate‐like n‐type surface, establishing an Ohmic tunneling contact.
