Dipolar Order Mapping Based on Spin‐Lock Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 7, July 2026.
To quantify the dipolar order relaxation time T1D$$ {T}_{1D} $$ using spin‐lock MRI technique, we introduce a T1D$$ {T}_{1D} $$‐specific ratio, denoted as RATIOdosl$$ {RATIO}_{dosl} $$. A novel rotary‐echo spin‐lock sequence was developed to enable dual‐frequency spin‐lock acquisition.

In Situ Investigation of Microstructure Evolution and Stress Generation During Low‐Pressure Carburizing and Quenching by Means of Synchrotron X‐Ray Diffraction

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 7, Page 3642-3662, July 2026.
This study uses in situ synchrotron X‐ray diffraction at the German Electron Synchrotron to analyze low‐pressure carburizing (LPC) in steels. The findings reveal surface carbon saturation and carbide formation kinetics, and phase‐specific stress development during quenching. The results show carbide kinetics depend on steel grade and size, while stress

Large Scale Connectivity of River Networks During Rainfall Events

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract River connectivity is essential for maintaining fertile floodplains, healthy ecosystems, and human activities, particularly in semi‐arid regions, where water flow is often intermittent. Despite its importance, very few studies have attempted to quantify connectivity at the scale of individual rainfall‐runoff events. In this study, we present a

MIDAS: a methodological framework for high‐speed high‐energy diffraction microscopy data reduction. Part I: methodology

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section A, Volume 82, Issue 4, Page 242-255, July 2026.
This paper details the complete methodological framework implemented in the MIDAS software for processing high‐energy diffraction microscopy (HEDM) data. We describe the specific algorithms, coordinate systems and physical models used for both far‐field and near‐field HEDM analysis.

A Conjugate Operator Pair of Partial Differential Equations Bridging Born and Kirchhoff Approximations for Wave‐Equation Inversion

open access: yesGeophysical Prospecting, Volume 74, Issue 6, July 2026.
ABSTRACT A conjugate operator pair is introduced for wave‐equation Kirchhoff modelling and migration, formulated as time‐space partial differential equations. The operator pair allows for iterative linearized waveform inversion and supports the reconstruction of angle‐dependent reflectivity images. The proposed forward modelling operator represents the

Childhood Material Hardship Linked to Adolescent Neurocognition: A Computational Modeling Approach

open access: yesDevelopmental Science, Volume 29, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Childhood material hardship, including insecurity in housing, utilities, food, and medical care, is a critical factor influencing cognitive functioning and mental health outcomes. However, past research on material hardship is limited by cross‐sectional data and reliance on conventional behavioral measures of cognitive functioning that suffer ...

Who Is Smuggler? Contradictory Positions and Unsettled Roles in Smuggling Assemblage on the Balkan Route

open access: yesGlobal Networks, Volume 26, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This article reconceptualizes migrant smuggling along the Balkan Route through the lens of the smuggling assemblage, which captures the fluid, relational and context‐dependent nature of clandestine mobility. Based on multi‐sited ethnographic fieldwork between 2020 and 2023 across six countries, including 85 semi‐structured interviews and ...
