Solar Heating Enhanced Selective Recovery of Metal Ions Through Flowing Electrodes Enabled by Hybrid Carbon Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new electrochemical system based on a microporous hybrid of carbon nanoplatelets and nanotubes to selectively capture Ni2+ from wastewater is constructed. The system temperature rises rapidly when irradiated with sunlight, which enhances the Ni2+ removal rate by 250% and the selectivity by 53%, and the energy consumption is also reduced by 51 ...

Kinetic Adsorption of Copper Ions by the Residue of Alginate Extraction from the Seaweed Sargassum Filipendula

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
This study focuses on the removal of Cu2+ ions present in low concentration in aqueous solutions using residue of alginate extraction as bioadsorbent from the brown seaweed Sargassum filipendula. Bioadsorption kinetic experiments were carried out at room

Viscoelasticity‐Induced Controllable Periodic Meso‐Textures of Liquid Crystal Polymers in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Viscoelasticity‐driven instabilities are harnessed to create tunable, periodic textures in 3D‐printed liquid crystalline polymers. This study illustrates how processing parameters control these spontaneous meso‐scale patterns. These unique structural architectures unlock new possibilities for functional devices, ranging from photonic components to ...

Photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B dye over Ni–Cd doped and co-doped ZnO nanoparticles

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study demonstrates the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of doped NiZnO and co-doped CdNiZnO NPs. Initially, ZnO NPs with a unique mesoporous ellipsoidal morphology were synthesized by simple precipitation and calcination.

Electroweak Baryogenesis and Dark Matter with an approximate R-symmetry

open access: yes, 2011
It is well known that R-symmetric models dramatically alleviate the SUSY flavor and CP problems. We study particular modifications of existing R-symmetric models which share the solution to the above problems, and have interesting consequences for ...

Toward Scalable Solutions for Silver‐Based Gas Diffusion Electrode Fabrication for the Electrochemical Conversion of CO2 – A Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the preparation techniques for silver‐based gas diffusion electrodes used for the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (eCO2R) are systematically reviewed and compared with respect to their scalability. In addition, physics‐based and data‐driven modeling approaches are discussed, and a perspective is given on how modeling can aid ...

Existence of Pseudo-Superinvolutions of the First Kind

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2008
Our main purpose is to develop the theory of existence of pseudo-superinvolutions of the first kind on finite dimensional central simple associative superalgebras over 𝐾, where 𝐾 is a field of characteristic not 2.

Polyferrocene‐Based Cubosomes: Conversion to Magnetic Mesoporous Microparticles, Supramolecular Modification, and Oxidation Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polyferrocene block copolymers are synthesized and assembled into micron‐sized polymer cubosomes with double diamond lattice and pore diameter of ≈30 nm. The ferrocene functionality is retained within the polymer cubosome wall as demonstrated on supramolecular modification, and oxidative disassembly.
