Delayed-Onset Pseudophakic Endophthalmitis

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology, 1991
We reviewed 19 cases of delayed-onset pseudophakic endophthalmitis in which diagnostic cultures were performed at one month or more after cataract extraction with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation. We isolated four different organisms in these 19 cases: 12 Propionibacterium species (63%), three Candida parapsilosis (16%), three ...

Surgical outcomes after pneumatic retinopexy, scleral buckle placement, and/or pars plana vitrectomy in cases of primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
PURPOSE: To investigate the outcomes and success rate of surgical intervention for patients diagnosed with primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. We investigate the most common and current procedures: pneumatic retinopexy (PR), pars plana vitrectomy ...

Retinal oxygen saturation and retinal vessel diameter in glaucoma patients before and after trabeculectomy

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To compare retinal vessel oxygen saturations and diameters before, 1 and 3 months after trabeculectomy. Methods Retinal oxygen saturations and vessel diameters were obtained using retinal oximetry. The effect of the postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) decrease on the arteriovenous difference (AV‐difference) was evaluated ...

Occupational exposure to metal welding and cataract: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Metal welding generates ultraviolet radiation (UVR) of cataractogenic wavelengths, and UVR emitted during welding has been associated with cataract formation, but results from prior studies are conflicting. Methods We conducted a systematic review and meta‐analysis of epidemiological studies addressing associations between ...

Natamycin in the treatment of keratomycosis: Correlation of treatment outcome and in vitro susceptibility of fungal isolates

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2011
In this study, 60 fungal isolates from 60 patients with fungal keratitis were tested in vitro for their susceptibility to natamycin and the mean minimum inhibitory concentrations of natamycin (MICn) were correlated with clinical outcome.

Occlusion-amblyopia following high dose oral levodopa combined with part time patching

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
Part time occlusion therapy is not reported to cause occlusion (reverse) amblyopia. However, when combined with high dose oral levodopa, an increase in the plasticity of the visual cortex can lead to occlusion amblyopia.
