Pharmacokinetic of levamisole in speckled surubimPseudoplatystoma corruscans

Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 2012
Intensification of production systems exposes fish to stress agents, such as poor water quality and crowding, affecting physiological condition of cultured fish, negatively influencing their immune system and increasing susceptibility to microorganism infections (Gopalakannan & Arul, 2006; Sado et al., 2010).

Ciencia y Tecnologia Alimentaria, 2001
Abstract Resumen Resumo Fish is among all classes of meat, the most susceptible to autolysis, oxidation, hydrolysis of fat and microbial alteration. The surubi manchado (Pseudoplatystoma corruscans) is the most marketed fresh water fish in the North East of Argentina. The analyzed fishes came from the Parana river, 27° 17′ 30″ south latitude and 58° 59′

Growth curve comparison of native fish cachara (Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum) and cachapinta hybrid (P. reticulatum × Pseudoplatystoma corruscans)

Aquaculture, 2019
Abstract This study was undertaken to compare the growth curves of native fish cachara (Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum) and of the cachapinta hybrid (P. reticulatum × Pseudoplatystoma corruscans), both reared in net cages. The experiment was carried out for 216 days in net cages that were placed in a 24-ha dam, in a completely randomized experimental ...

Digestive enzymes and metabolic profile of Pseudoplatystoma corruscans (Teleostei: Siluriformes) in response to diet composition

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2004
Digestive enzyme responsiveness to feeding and associated adjustments of metabolism can be used to derive nutritionally effective diet formulations. Juvenile pintado (Pseudoplatystoma corruscans) were fed different diets. After feeding, fish were killed and blood, liver and white muscle were collected to evaluate metabolites.

Generation, characterisation and applicability of a monoclonal antibody to hybrid surubim catfish Pseudoplatystoma corruscans (Agassiz) Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum (Linnaeus) immunoglobulin

Comparative Clinical Pathology, 2004
Monoclonal antibodies (mAb) against hybrid surubim immunoglobulin (IgM) were produced. Screening, with an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), revealed three probes: PSIg 10, PSIg 13 and PSIg 28 specifically reacting to surubim IgM. No species cross-reactivity was found.

Molecular identification of the hybrid between the catfish species Pseudoplatystoma corruscans and Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum using a set of eight microsatellite markers

Journal of Fish Biology, 2013
This study distinguished hybrids of surubim or pintado Pseudoplatystoma corruscans and cachara Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum from pure strains using a set of eight microsatellite markers and population assignment methods. Applications of this molecular tool range from certification of hybrid‐free breeders in restocking conservation programmes to the ...

First record of the mating behaviour of the spotted surubim Pseudoplatystoma corruscans in the Uruguay River

Journal of Fish Biology, 2020
AbstractThe spotted surubim Pseudoplatystoma corruscans is a large migratory catfish native to the La Plata and San Francisco basins. Nonetheless, its reproductive dynamics and behaviour remain poorly understood. This brief note provides the first record of the mating behaviour of P. corruscans in natural conditions.

A cytochemical, light and electron microscopic study of the peripheral blood leucocytes of hybrid surubim catfish ( Pseudoplatystoma corruscans x Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum )

Comparative Clinical Pathology, 2003
This paper describes the results of our initial studies with hybrid surubim catfish leucocytes and suggests that the techniques used may have further application. According to size, shape, staining patterns and ultrastructure, five blood leucocyte types were identified in the peripheral blood of surubim: lymphocytes, thrombocytes, monocytes ...

Effect of salinity and prey concentrations on Pseudoplatystoma corruscans, Prochilodus costatus and Lophiosilurus alexandri larviculture

Aquaculture, 2009
Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different salinities and prey concentrations on Pseudoplatystoma corruscans, Prochilodus costatus and Lophiosilurus alexandri larviculture. For each species, the larvae were reared at a density of 15 larvae/l in 27 2-l aquaria. The experiments were conducted in a 3 × 3 factorial design,
