Pseudoresistance entropy as an approach to diagnostics and control in aluminium production

Asia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2007
AbstractThe advent of deterministic information theory (det‐IT), which allows quantification of the T‐entropy (similar in a sense to thermodynamic entropy) of time‐series data, presents novel insights into the state behaviour of the aluminium reduction cell.

Response to Letters Regarding Article, “Drug Resistance and Pseudoresistance: An Unintended Consequence of Enteric Coating Aspirin” [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2013
We thank the authors of the letters for their interest in our publication.1 True aspirin drug resistance would be expected to be (1) specific for aspirin, (2) reflected by incomplete inhibition of the molecular target of aspirin, and (3) a relatively stable phenotype that is reproducible when assessed on multiple occasions. It is this last point …

Letter by Wallace and Chan Regarding Article, “Drug Resistance and Pseudoresistance: An Unintended Consequence of Enteric Coating Aspirin” [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2013
The recently published study by Grosser et al1 draws our attention to an unintended consequence of the use of enteric-coated aspirin for cardioprotection. A significant proportion of individuals treated with enteric-coated aspirin exhibited inadequate suppression of serum thromboxane and platelet aggregation.

Pseudoresistant hypertension due to poor medication adherence

International Journal of Cardiology, 2014
Resistanthypertension(RHTN)canbede finedasthefailuretoachievethegoalbloodpressure (lessthan140/90 mm Hg,fortheoverallpopula-tion, and less than 130/80 mm Hg for those with diabetes mellitus, orchronic kidney disease) when a patient adheres to a combination of atleast 3 optimally dosed antihypertensive drugs of different classes, oneof which should ...

[Resistant and pseudoresistant hypertension: an analysis of 10 cases of pseudoresistance].

Minerva cardioangiologica, 1994
Hypertension resistant to pharmacological treatment may be caused by various factors. Next to the real refractory forms, there is one of false resistance known as "pseudoresistance". Pseudoresistance is a condition with a discrepancy between blood pressure values measured at the physician's office, which appear falsely high, compared to those measured ...

Ambulatory Blood Pressure and Adherence Monitoring: Diagnosing Pseudoresistant Hypertension

Seminars in Nephrology, 2014
A small proportion of the treated hypertensive population consistently has a blood pressure greater than 140/90 mm Hg despite a triple therapy including a diuretic, a calcium channel blocker, and a blocker of the renin-angiotensin system. According to guidelines, these patients have so-called resistant hypertension.

An Ultra Low Power Pseudoresistive Ring Oscillator for MICS Band Applications

2020 4th International Conference on Electronics, Materials Engineering & Nano-Technology (IEMENTech), 2020
The paper presents the design of a 2-stage MICS band differential ring oscillator. Instead of using a pseudodifferential approach, we have proposed the use of a pseudoresistor at the source coupled point. This consumes minimum headroom and contributes minimal 1/f noise. It gives good I-Q matching over voltage variations.

Pseudoresistive networks and the pseudovoltage-based cocontent

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Fundamental Theory and Applications, 2003
Using the concept of a transistor as a pseudoresistor, many resistive networks can be mapped to transistor based equivalents. Pseudoresistors are two-terminal circuit elements whose current is a function of the instantaneous difference in the pseudovoltage across the two terminals, where the pseudovoltage is a nonlinear function of the voltage at each ...

Possible Pseudoresistance of Streptococcus pneumoniae to Penicillin G in a Patient With a Mixed Pneumococcus-Staphylococcus aureus Pneumonia

The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 1984
We report the case of a 53-year-old woman with a mixed pneumococcus-staphylococcus pneumonia, in which both organisms were recovered from both sputum and blood. Streptococcus pneumoniae persisted in sputum 48 hours after initiation of high-dose intravenous penicillin G. When nafcillin was substituted for penicillin G, both pneumococci and staphylococci
