Translocation of arthropods with Sphagnum biomass during the establishment of a Sphagnum cultivation site

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 18, Issue 5, Page 842-849, September 2025.
We investigated the accidental translocation of arthropods with donor material during the establishment of a Sphagnum cultivation site. Although arthropods from 11 different orders were identified in the donor material, only Araneae, Coleoptera, and Hemiptera were found in significant numbers at the recipient site.

Barcode 100K Specimens: In a Single Nanopore Run

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2025.
ABSTRACT It is a global priority to better manage the biosphere, but action must be informed by comprehensive data on the abundance and distribution of species. The acquisition of such information is currently constrained by high costs. DNA barcoding can speed the registration of unknown animal species, the most diverse kingdom of eukaryotes, as the ...

False scorpions (Arachnida, Pseudoscorpiones) from Lower Cretaceous Spanish amber

open access: yesPapers in Palaeontology, Volume 10, Issue 6, November/December 2024.
Abstract Pseudoscorpions, one of the earliest terrestrial lineages dating back to the Middle Devonian period (c. 385 Ma), have a limited fossil record mainly as inclusions in amber. The available fossils are mostly from the Cenozoic era, making it challenging to comprehensively understand their evolutionary history and diversification over time.

Another tool in the toolbox: Aphid‐specific Wolbachia protect against fungal pathogens

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 26, Issue 11, November 2024.
Wolbachia infected more than 80% of Pentalonia aphids sampled across the Hawaiian Islands and other locations. The aphid‐specific M‐supergroup strains of this symbiont protected against a specialist fungal pathogen, Pandora, but not the generalist pathogen Beauveria or the parasitoid Aphidius colemanii.

New species of pseudoscorpions (Arachnida: Pseudoscorpiones) for the fauna of Bulgaria

open access: yes, 2007
The fauna of the false scorpions in Bulgaria is still poorly studied. We report the occurrence of eight new species of pseudoscorpions -- Chthonius orthodactylus, Neobisium blothroides, N. cf. labinskyi, N. moreoticum, N. peloponnesiacum, Dinocheirus panzeri, Mundochthonius styriacus and Larca lata. The latter three species are members of three genera,
