Cutting forces by oak and douglas fir machining

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2014
In this work the multi-factor, non-linear dependencies between main (tangential) FC and normal (radial) FN cutting forces upon two machining parameters by up-routing and down-routing wood of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) and Oak (Quercus petraea ...

First Report of Diplodia pinea on Pseudotsuga menziesii in Turkey

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2014
Diplodia pinea is a latent, opportunistic pathogen of Pinus and other coniferous species, including Pseudotsuga menziesii (3). The fungus causes twig blight, branch cankers, tree and seedling collar rot, root rot, and can also infect cones (1). D. pinea has often been reported causing tip and shoot blight on various Pinus spp.

Shaping future forests: how can ecophysiology support climate‐smart forest management?

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 5, Page 2778-2813, June 2026.
Summary Climate change, particularly the associated increase in extreme events and disturbances, threatens the numerous environmental, social, and economic benefits that forests provide, both locally and globally. Heat and drought pose significant risks to forest ecosystems; the anticipated future climate is expected to exacerbate this trend ...

From pathogens to partners: temporal and biogeographical patterns in fungal associations of alien trees

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 5, Page 3381-3395, June 2026.
Summary Alien trees reshape belowground fungal communities, but the factors governing the balance between mutualists and pathogens remain unclear. We tested whether residence time, mycorrhizal type, and biogeographical origin shape this balance, and whether alien stands differ from native vegetation. We sampled soils beneath 73 alien tree species in 48

Dendrocronología de Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco de la Sierra Madre Oriental en Nuevo León, México

open access: yes, 2010
Tree-ring chronologies for Pseudotsuga menziesii were constructed for three sites of the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range of the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico: El Potosí, La Encantada and La Marta. The correlation coefficients between chronologies, the
