Image Sharpening with Optimized PSNR

A family of matrix filters are introduced through approximations to directional digital derivatives. Images can be sharpened by combining all the eight directional filtered images together. The two parameters in the filter family are determined by desired PSNR so that a given image is sharpened with optimized PSNR.

A referenceless PSNR estimator of compressed JPEG images

The paper develops a universal procedure to estimate the level of distortions caused by the JPEG compression of an image of any structural content. To determine the quality, we use the PSNR metric. The procedure allows us to employ different stochastic models to predict the variance of the DCT coefficient quantization noise.

Video Matching by One-Dimensional PSNR Profile

This paper addresses a compact framework to matching video sequences through a PSNR-based profile. This simplify video profile is suitable to matching process when apply in disordered undersea videos. As opposed to using color and motion feature across the video sequence, we use the image quality of successive frames to be a feature of videos.

Modeling and reduction of PSNR fluctuations in 3D wavelet coding

We study the effects of the quantization of the three-dimensional wavelet transform coefficients, encoded using a 3D zerotree-based compression scheme. The processing of the quantization error operated by the synthesis filter bank actually determines a modulation of the reconstruction error statistics.
