The philotarsidae (Insecta : Psocoptera) of Australia

The philotarsid (Psocoptera) fauna of Australia is reviewed comprehensively for the first time. Of the 29 species treated, 21 are described as new, 11 in Haplophallus , 1 in Zelandopsocus , and 9 in Austropsocus ; redescriptions are provided for Austropsocus sinuosus (Banks) and Austropsocus viridis (Enderlein).

AbstractAn account is given of the ultrastructure of the sperm in Psocoptera. Three main types of sperm occur. Type one, in Suborder Trogiomorpha, is an uncoiled long sperm with a filamentous head and a flagellum containing two or three lateral ridges and two central tubules.
