Rheumatic Disease Clinics of North America, 2005
In the majority of patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA), it is a chronic progressive disease, and only 12% of patients with early PsA will be in disease-modifying antirheumatic drug-free remission at 2 years. Radiologic damage occurs in the early stages of PsA; up to 47% of patients with PsA have radiologic erosions after 2 years.

Pathogenesis of Psoriatic Arthritis
Critical Reviews in Immunology, 2019Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory arthropathy involving synovial and entheseal structures, associated with psoriasis or similar conditions. The etiopathogenetic mechanisms underlying PsA remain unclarified. The most accredited hypothesis involves a complex interaction among genetic, environmental, and immunological factors ...

Etanercept in Psoriatic Arthritis
The Journal of Rheumatology Supplement, 2012In this update on etanercept (ETN) in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) we analyze this drug's mechanism of action, clinical efficacy/effectiveness, optimal dosage, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARD) association, radiological progression, safety, switching aspects, and pharmacoeconomy.

Osteoporosis and Psoriatic Arthritis
The Journal of Rheumatology Supplement, 2012Osteoporosis (OP) is a skeletal disorder characterized by compromised bone strength that predisposes to an increased risk of fracture. The prevalence of OP in the general population is very high as established in several studies, and OP represents one of the possible aspects of bone involvement in arthritis.

Adalimumab in Psoriatic Arthritis
The Journal of Rheumatology Supplement, 2012Open prospective studies and randomized controlled trials (RCT) have shown the short-term efficacy of adalimumab (ADA) in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and psoriasis. ADA effectively treated all varied musculoskeletal manifestations characteristic of PsA, including peripheral arthritis, spinal disease, enthesitis, and dactylitis.

From two studies (Lambert et al, 1976; Shore and Ansell, 1982), it was concluded that juvenile psoriatic arthritis is a distinct entity with one group of patients virtually indistinguishable from those with juvenile chronic arthritis initially, while all the patterns of psoriatic arthritis recorded in adults were seen in the remainder. A family history

Psoriatic arthritis is an inflammatory musculoskeletal disease associated with psoriasis that is usually seronegative for rheumatoid factor. Psoriatic arthritis affects men and women equally, usually during the fourth decade, although it may affect children and octogenarians. Understanding psoriatic arthritis
British Journal of Hospital Medicine, 2005Previously, psoriatic arthritis was considered an uncommon, generally benign variant of ankylosing spondylitis or rheumatoid arthritis, with few therapeutic options. It is now recognized as a distinct, potentially serious disorder that can be effectively managed with a number of new agents.
