Parameter Identification of Pump Turbine Governing System Using an Improved Backtracking Search Algorithm

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Accurate parameter identification of pump turbine governing system (PTGS) is of great importance to the precise modeling of pumped storage unit. As PTGS is characterized by uncertainties and strong nonlinear characteristics, it is difficult to identify ...

Structural characterization of PTG and PTG/PP1 protein complex

open access: yes, 2022
PTG (protein targeting to glycogen) is a scaffolding protein that is involved in the activation of glycogen synthesis by bringing PP1 (type 1 protein phosphatase) to its substrates. It is proposed as a target for the treatment of Lafora disease (LD), a genetic disorder manifested by catastrophic teenage onset of progressive myoclonus epilepsy.

Depletion of p75NTR in Schwann Cells Driven by Inflammation Mediates Cutaneous Pain in Psoriasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Psoriasis‐like inflammation induces proliferation and molecular remodeling of cutaneous Schwann cells, marked by reduced p75NTR and increased NGF expression. IL‐17A promotes this process, whereas Schwann cell‐specific p75NTR overexpression alleviates cutaneous pain in vivo.

Transient Expression of Homologous Hairpin RNA Causes Interference with Plant Virus Infection and Is Overcome by a Virus Encoded Suppressor of Gene Silencing

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2003
Specific post-transcriptional gene silencing (PTGS) of target genes can be induced in a variety of organisms by providing homologous double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) molecules. In plants, PTGS is part of a defense mechanism against virus infection.

FIRE‐GNN: Force‐Informed, Relaxed Equivariance Graph Neural Network for Rapid and Accurate Prediction of Surface Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This study introduces FIRE‐GNN, a force‐informed, relaxed equivariant graph neural network for predicting surface work functions and cleavage energies from slab structures. By incorporating surface‐normal symmetry breaking and machine learning interatomic potential‐derived force information, the approach achieves state‐of‐the‐art accuracy and enables ...

Inhibition of Coxsackievirus B3 cardiotropic strain Woodruff replication by silencing essential viral genes

open access: yesBiotechnology & Biotechnological Equipment, 2019
Post-transcriptional gene silencing is an effective tool for viral replication control at the epigenetic level. In this study, we aimed to produce dsRNAs and siRNA pools targeting the genetic region for the viral protease 3C and the genetic region ...

Intraoperative intact parathyroid hormone monitoring and frozen section diagnosis are essential for successful parathyroidectomy in secondary hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2022
BackgroundTotal parathyroidectomy (PTx) is often performed to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT). Successful PTx is essential to prevent recurrent and persistent SHPT because remnant parathyroid glands (PTGs) in the neck can be stimulated and may

Potential Analysis of On‐Site Oxygen and Ozone Production for Wastewater Treatment Plants

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
The potential of a power‐to‐gas process focusing on the oxygen stream to cover an upcoming demand of ozone at German wastewater treatment plants is analyzed. Economic and ecological parameters are compared to the conventional production of hydrogen and oxygen. Powered by on‐site produced wind energy, the process is deemed beneficial.
