Determination of Sex from the Pubic Bone
Medicine, Science and the Law, 1987One hundred pubic bones (right and left) of adult individuals (78 males and 22 females) have been studied to establish criteria for determination of sex. The gross anatomical features on anterior and posterior surfaces have been examined, and the height and width of the pubic bones have been measured.

Form of the Pubic Bone in Neanderthal Man
Science, 1960Shanidar I and III from Iraq have the same peculiar form of pubis as Tabūn I from Palestine. These are the only such pubes known to exist. These facts suggest that Neanderthal man (Shanidar-Tabūn) and an early variety of modern man (Skhūl) coexisted during Mousterian times in this part of the world.

Aplasia of the pubic bone in conjunction with hip dislocation
Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics B, 2005We describe here unilateral left hip dislocation in a 2-year-old child in conjunction with ipsilateral absence of the pubic bone. He was admitted to our hospital at 1 year of age and diagnosed with teratogenic dislocation of the left hip, aplasia of the left pubic bone, an undescended palpable left testicle and hypospadias.
