Incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events in patients with rheumatoid arthritis treated with Janus kinase inhibitors compared to biologic disease‐modifying antirheumatic drugs: data from an international collaboration of registries (the "JAK‐pot" study)

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objective To assess the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in RA patients treated with JAKi, TNF‐inhibitors (TNFi) or biologic Disease‐Modifying Anti‐Rheumatic Drugs with other modes of action (bDMARD‐OMA) in a multi‐country, real‐world population.

Comparative Analysis of Circulating and Synovial Immune Cells in Early Untreated Rheumatoid Arthritis and their relationship with molecular pathology and disease outcomes

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objectives To assess the relationship of circulating and synovial immune cells with synovial molecular pathology and disease outcomes in early Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Methods Early (<12 months) treatment‐naïve RA patients (n=144) from the Pathobiology of Early Arthritis Cohort (PEAC) were included in this posthoc analysis.

Aberrant glycosylation of IgG in children with active lupus nephritis alters podocyte metabolism and causes podocyte injury

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Background Podocytes are integral to the maintenance of the glomerular filtration barrier. Their injury results in proteinuria and disease progression in lupus nephritis (LN). Aberrant IgG glycosylation drives podocyte injury in LN and leads to cytoskeletal rearrangement, motility changes and decreased nephrin production.

Paradoxical Activation of Entheseal Myeloid Cells by JAK1 and TYK2 Inhibitors via IL10 Antagonism

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Background JAK inhibition (JAKi) is effective in seronegative spondyloarthropathy (SpA) spectrum disorders, but TYK2 inhibition failed in SpA spectrum ulcerative colitis, and tofacitinib showed minimal benefit in Crohn's Disease, which highlights the complex role for JAK‐STAT signaling in different inflammatory processes. In this study, we investigated

The history of anatomical engagement

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract The public's fascination with anatomy has evolved over time and progressed from avoidance of the tainted yet saintly corpse, to their fascination with cabinets of curiosities. The current narrative review explores public engagement (PE), from its potential origins as cave paintings, to the rise of the disciplinarity of anatomy.
