Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Travel and public health

open access: yesJournal of Infection and Public Health, 2008
Increasing international travel and migration can interfere with public health in both the country of destination and back home. The revised International Health Regulations (IHR) and travel disease sentinel networks are means to protect public and individual health.

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Public Health Workforce Shortages Imperil Nation's Health [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Examines from a community-based perspective the scope of the shortages in the public health workforce; contributing factors such as inadequate funding, salaries, and benefits; and strategies for training, recruiting, and retaining public health ...

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Hospitalization in the transmission of dengue dynamics: The impact on public health policies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Dengue virus has caused major problems for public health officials for decades in tropical and subtropical countries. We construct a compartmental model that includes the risk of hospitalization and its impact on public health policies. The basic reproductive number, $\mathcal{R}_0$, is computed, as well as a sensitivity analysis on $\mathcal{R}_0 ...

Loss of proton‐sensing GPR4 reduces tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
G protein‐coupled receptor 4 (GPR4) is a pH‐sensing receptor activated by acidic pH. GPR4 expression is increased in patients with inflammatory bowel disease who are at high risk of developing colorectal cancer. In mouse models, loss of GPR4 attenuated tumor progression. This correlated with increased IL2 and natural killer cell activity.

HRDE: Retrieval-Augmented Large Language Models for Chinese Health Rumor Detection and Explainability [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
As people increasingly prioritize their health, the speed and breadth of health information dissemination on the internet have also grown. At the same time, the presence of false health information (health rumors) intermingled with genuine content poses a significant potential threat to public health.
