Response time of a normal-superconductor hybrid system under the step-like pulse bias [PDF]
The response of a quantum dot coupled with one normal lead and a superconductor lead driven by a step-like pulse bias $V_L$ is studied using the non-equilibrium Green function method. In the linear pulse bias regime, the responses of the upwards and downwards bias are symmetric.

Publication bias and merit in ecology [PDF]
Bias, or any set of factors that influence the general expression of merit, is common in science and is an inevitable by‐product of an imperfect but otherwise reasonably objective human pursuit to understand the world we inhabit. In this paper, we explore the conceptual significance of a relatively tractable form of bias, namely publication and ...

Development of 4T1 breast cancer mouse model system for preclinical carbonic anhydrase IX studies
Carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) is a well‐recognised therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker in cancer. We developed and characterised a robust murine breast cancer model system that is suitable for CAIX studies in vitro and in vivo—it comprises both CAIX‐positive and CAIX‐negative controls and provides a solid platform for the comprehensive ...

Online 3-Axis Magnetometer Hard-Iron and Soft-Iron Bias and Angular Velocity Sensor Bias Estimation Using Angular Velocity Sensors for Improved Dynamic Heading Accuracy [PDF]
This article addresses the problem of dynamic on-line estimation and compensation of hard-iron and soft-iron biases of 3-axis magnetometers under dynamic motion in field robotics, utilizing only biased measurements from a 3-axis magnetometer and a 3-axis angular rate sensor. The proposed magnetometer and angular velocity bias estimator (MAVBE) utilizes

ABSTRACT Purpose To assess the long‐term effects of a community cancer exercise program on quality of life, fatigue, weight, waist circumference, physical activity levels, lower extremity strength, body mass index (BMI), heart rate, and blood pressure, across non‐metastatic and metastatic patients.

Detecting Media Bias in News Articles using Gaussian Bias Distributions [PDF]
Media plays an important role in shaping public opinion. Biased media can influence people in undesirable directions and hence should be unmasked as such. We observe that featurebased and neural text classification approaches which rely only on the distribution of low-level lexical information fail to detect media bias.

p-Hacking and publication bias interact to distort meta-analytic effect size estimates.
Science depends on trustworthy evidence. Thus, a biased scientific record is of questionable value because it impedes scientific progress, and the public receives advice on the basis of unreliable evidence that has the potential to have far-reaching ...

The Need for Formal Evidence Synthesis in Food Policy: A Case Study of Willingness-to-Pay
Meta-analysis is increasingly utilised in the understanding of consumer behaviour, including in relation to farm animal welfare. However, the issue of publication bias has received little attention.

Three-armed trials including placebo and no-treatment groups may be subject to publication bias: systematic review. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: It has been argued that placebos may not have important clinical impacts in general. However, there is increasing evidence of a publication bias among trials published in journals.
