Quantitative magnetic resonance neurography in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy: A longitudinal study over 6 years

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 11, Issue 3, Page 593-606, March 2024.
Abstract Objective To evaluate magnetic resonance neurography (MRN) for the longitudinal assessment of patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP). Methods Prospective examination of twelve CIDP patients by neurological assessment, MRN, and nerve conduction studies in 2016 and 6 years later in 2022. Imaging parameters

Hypothalamic subregion alterations in anorexia nervosa and obesity: Association with appetite‐regulating hormone levels

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, Volume 57, Issue 3, Page 581-592, March 2024.
Abstract Objective Anorexia nervosa (AN) and obesity are weight‐related disorders with imbalances in energy homeostasis that may be due to hormonal dysregulation. Given the importance of the hypothalamus in hormonal regulation, we aimed to identify morphometric alterations to hypothalamic subregions linked to these conditions and their connection to ...

Comparative evaluation of a surface‐based respiratory monitoring system against a pressure sensor for 4DCT image reconstruction in phantoms

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 25, Issue 2, February 2024.
Abstract Four‐dimensional computed tomography (4DCT), which relies on breathing‐induced motion, requires realistic surrogate information of breathing variations to reconstruct the tumor trajectory and motion variability of normal tissues accurately. Therefore, the SimRT surface‐guided respiratory monitoring system has been installed on a Siemens CT ...

Characteristics of breathing‐adapted gating using surface guidance for use in particle therapy: A phantom‐based end‐to‐end test from CT simulation to dose delivery

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2024.
Abstract To account for intra‐fractional tumor motion during dose delivery in radiotherapy, various treatment strategies are clinically implemented such as breathing‐adapted gating and irradiating the tumor during specific breathing phases. In this work, we present a comprehensive phantom‐based end‐to‐end test of breathing‐adapted gating utilizing ...

Sedimentary evidence of the Late Holocene tsunami in the Shetland Islands (UK) at Loch Flugarth, northern Mainland

open access: yesBoreas, Volume 53, Issue 1, Page 27-41, January 2024.
Sediment cores from coastal lake Loch Flugarth on northen Mainland, Shetland Islands (UK), contain a thick unit of sand with four stacked subsequences. Grain‐size distribution, geochemistry and geophysical characteristics indicate deposition by a tsunami. The age‐depth model of the core points to tsunami impact c. 1400 cal.

Organization of Hannover Skin Bank: Sterile culture and procurement protocols for viable cryopreserved allogeneic skin grafts of living donors

open access: yesInternational Wound Journal, Volume 21, Issue 1, January 2024.
Abstract Preserved allogeneic donor skin still represents one of the gold standard therapies in temporary wound coverage in severely burned patients or chronic wounds. Allogeneic skin grafts are currently commercially available as cryo‐ or glycerol‐preserved allografts through skin tissue banks all over the world.
