Ecological effects of the parasitic rust fungus Uromyces lineolatus (Pucciniaceae) on Glaux maritima (Primulaceae)

open access: yesEcography, 1994
Disease incidence of the parasitic rust fungus Uromvces lineolatus (Pucciniaceae) on Glaux maritima (Primulaceae) was recorded in three transects across a Baltic sea shore meadow The effects of the fungus on growth, flowering, seed production and ...

Cryptic diversity and significant cophylogenetic signal detected by DNA barcoding the rust fungi (Pucciniaceae) of Cyperaceae–Juncaceae [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, 2021
AbstractPlants play important roles as habitat and food for a tremendous diversity of specialist animals and fungi. The disappearance of any plant species can lead to extinction cascades of its associated biota. In consequence, documenting the diversity and specificity of plant‐associated organisms is of high practical relevance in biodiversity ...

Distribution, infection rates and DNA barcoding of Uromyces erythronii (Pucciniaceae), a parasite of Erythronium (Liliaceae) in Europe [PDF]

open access: yesWilldenowia, 2019
This paper presents the European distribution of the understudied, host-specific rust fungus, Uromyces erythronii (Pucciniomycetes, Pucciniales, Pucciniaceae). Distribution data were derived from the survey of herbarium materials of its European host plant, Erythronium dens-canis.

Phylogenetic approach for identification and life cycles of Puccinia (Pucciniaceae) species on Poaceae from northeastern China

Phytotaxa, 2022
About 300 species of Puccinia on Poaceae have been reported globally. However, these species can be difficult to identify because of morphological similarities and difficulties of host plant identifications. The presence of many cryptic species is also suspected. Based on about 150 specimens on Poaceae and about 50 related specimens of spermogonial and

Phylogenetic approach for identification and life cycles of Puccinia (Pucciniaceae) species on Carex (Cyperaceae) from northeastern China

Phytotaxa, 2022
About 150 species of Puccinia on Carex (Cyperaceae) have been reported globally. However, these species can be difficult to identify due to similarities in morphology and difficulties in identifying the host plants. The presence of many cryptic species is also suspected.

Pollinator-mediated interactions between a pathogenic fungus, Uromyces pisi (Pucciniaceae), and its host plant,Euphorbia cyparissias (Euphorbiaceae).

American journal of botany, 2012
The plant Euphorbia cyparissias is commonly infected by rust fungi of the species complex Uromyces pisi. When infected, E. cyparissias is unable to flower, but instead is induced by the fungus to form pseudoflowers. Pseudoflowers are rosettes of yellow leaves upon which the fungus presents its gametes in a sweet-smelling fungal nectar.

Evolutionary relationships among species of Puccinia and Uromyces (Pucciniaceae, Uredinales) inferred from partial protein coding gene phylogenies

Mycological Research, 2007
The two rust genera with the largest number of species are Puccinia Pers. ex Pers. and Uromyces (Link) Unger in the family Pucciniaceae (Uredinales). The hosts of these pathogens include representatives from almost all major angiosperm orders. Despite their ecological and economic importance, the status of Puccinia and Uromyces as distinct genera has ...
