Niche Partitioning Promotes Coexistence: Habitat Suitability and Spatial Overlap of Three Sympatric Ungulates in a Subtropical Mountain Reserve

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study assessed the habitat suitability and spatial niche differentiation of three sympatric ungulates—Black muntjac, Reeves's muntjac, and Wild boar—in the Tongbo Mountain National Nature Reserve, China. Using MaxEnt modeling and niche overlap analysis, we found distinct habitat preferences and hierarchical niche segregation that facilitate ...

Physiology–microhabitat matching may help organisms cope with the thermal and hydric challenges under climate change: a tale of two lizards

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2026, Issue 3, March 2026.
Climate change is significantly affecting biodiversity, and organisms that depend on external temperature – such as ectotherms – are particularly vulnerable to these effects. Microhabitats provide refuge for species, thereby reducing exposure to thermal and hydric stress under climate change.

Environmental DNA Reveals Diverse and Depth‐Stratified Biodiversity in East Indian Ocean Submarine Canyons

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Environmental DNA metabarcoding reveals diverse animal communities across Cape Range and Cloates submarine canyons off Western Australia. Two assays detected 234 species spanning 125 families across 11 phyla, highlighting canyon‐specific assemblages and demonstrating the value of eDNA for establishing biodiversity baselines in remote and poorly ...

Quantifying river morphological changes using multi‐satellite observations and in situ measurements

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study integrates optical, radar and altimetry satellite data with river gauge measurements to estimate periodically submerged riverbed topography and quantify morphological change. By linking how often water covers the riverbed with water‐level variations, erosion and deposition patterns are mapped across a reach of Jamuna River.

From experiencing biodiversity to action: How significant life experiences shape values and inspire bird conservation engagement

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 724-740, March 2026.
Abstract Problem and aim: Bird biodiversity loss is a pressing global challenge that requires behavioural engagement, yet the motivational pathways leading to active bird conservation remain underexplored. This study investigates how significant life experiences (SLEs) and environmental values (biospheric, altruistic, hedonistic, egoistic) shape ...

Creative Arts Therapy for Anxiety, Depression, and Quality of Life in Cancer Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesPsycho-Oncology, Volume 35, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cancer is a significant psychological burden for patients. Previous evidence syntheses suggest creative arts therapies (CATs) may improve psychological outcomes, but are limited by heterogeneity in intervention types, study designs, and outcomes, and the lack of a certainty of evidence assessment.
