Suppressing t(4;11) Acute Leukemia by Lipopolymer Nanoparticle Delivery of siRNA Targeting KMT2A::AFF1 with Enhanced Extrahepatic Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a new lipopolymer nanoparticle (LPNP) system that efficiently delivers siRNA to leukemia cells. The LPNPs silence the leukemia fusion gene KMT2A::AFF1, induce apoptosis, and decrease leukemia burden in mice. These results demonstrate the potential of LPNPs as a targeted siRNA therapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Metal–Organic Framework‐Based Antimicrobial Touch Surfaces to Prevent Cross‐Contamination

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A MOF‐based antimicrobial door handle cover is developed. It completely inhibits the cross‐contamination of Gram‐positive bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterococcus faecalis), Gram‐negative bacterial species (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii), and fungi (Candida albicans). Abstract Infection diseases

Mass Spectrometry-based Proteomics in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal, 2016
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is an acute and lethal clinical syndrome that is characterized by hypoxemic respiratory failure and diffuse alveolar inflammatory damage. This review aimed to search and discuss the mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomic studies on different subsets of ARDS patients.Original research articles were collected ...

Management of Mechanical Ventilation in Decompensated Heart Failure. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Mechanical ventilation (MV) is a life-saving intervention for respiratory failure, including decompensated congestive heart failure. MV can reduce ventricular preload and afterload, decrease extra-vascular lung water, and decrease the work of breathing ...
