Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformations
Chest, 2013Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) are abnormal vascular structures that most often connect a pulmonary artery to a pulmonary vein, bypassing the normal pulmonary capillary bed and resulting in an intrapulmonary right-to-left shunt. As a consequence, patients with PAVM can have hypoxemia and paradoxical embolization complications, including ...

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations
Clinical Radiology, 1998Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) are uncommon lesions, but are the cause of considerable morbidity and occasional mortality. They most commonly occur in association with hereditary haemorrhagic telangectasia and screening of families with this condition is therefore important.

Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation
Circulation, 1999A35-year-old white woman with a history of migraine headaches and a grade 2 systolic murmur presented with symptoms of slurred speech, left-sided facial droop, and left hemiparesis after a hysterectomy. These symptoms resolved over several days, and in an effort to identify a potential cardiac source of embolism, a transesophageal echocardiogram was ...

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2001Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations rarely present in childhood. Two cases are presented in this report. Both the cases presented clinically with cyanosis and clubbing without a cardiac murmur. The second case had cerebral abscess in addition. Both the cases underwent a contrast-enhanced echocardiography which suggested the presence of pulmonary ...

Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformations
Chest, 2000Helical CT scan (HCT), a noninvasive method, can detect pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs). Its sensitivity is superior to that of global digitalized angiography, but patients receive a significant dose of radiation during diagnostic HCT. We compared HCT to contrast-enhanced pulmonary magnetic resonance angiography (CEMRA), a new noninvasive

Congenital pulmonary arteriovenous malformations
Pediatric Surgery International, 2002We report the rare case of an 11-year-old boy who presented with intractable hypoxaemia and a pulmonary mass. Investigations revealed this to be a pulmonary arteriovenous malformation. It was entirely confined to the right middle lobe and was successfully treated via a right middle lobectomy.

Chirurgie; memoires de l'Academie de chirurgie, 1993This study concerns 11 patients; 7 had a Rendu-Osler-Weber disease. They were 5 males and 6 females, including 3 children. In addition to the thoracic symptoms of cyanosis, clubbing and polycythemia, 4 had been treated for a cerebral abscess. Standard chest films were normal in 2 cases.
