Bronchial Circulation Angiogenesis in the Rat Quantified with SPECT and Micro-CT [PDF]
Introduction As pulmonary artery obstruction results in proliferation of the bronchial circulation in a variety of species, we investigated this angiogenic response using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and micro-CT.

Structural and hemodynamic properties in murine pulmonary arterial networks under hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension [PDF]
Detection and monitoring of patients with pulmonary hypertension, defined as mean blood pressure in the main pulmonary artery above 25 mmHg, requires a combination of imaging and hemodynamic measurements. This study demonstrates how to combine imaging data from microcomputed tomography (micro-CT) images with hemodynamic pressure and flow waveforms from

PARSE challenge 2022: Pulmonary Arteries Segmentation using Swin U-Net Transformer(Swin UNETR) and U-Net [PDF]
In this work, we present our proposed method to segment the pulmonary arteries from the CT scans using Swin UNETR and U-Net-based deep neural network architecture. Six models, three models based on Swin UNETR, and three models based on 3D U-net with residual units were ensemble using a weighted average to make the final segmentation masks.

Transpulmonary thermodilution: its role in assessment of lung water and pulmonary edema [PDF]
Tissue edema, in particular pulmonary edema, increasingly is recognized as a perioperative complication affecting outcome. Management strategies directed at avoiding excessive fluid administration, reducing inflammatory response, and decreasing capillary

Intraperitoneal photodynamic therapy causes a capillary-leak syndrome. [PDF]
BackgroundIn patients undergoing intraperitoneal (IP) photodynamic therapy (PDT), the combination of aggressive surgical debulking and light therapy causes an apparent systemic capillary-leak syndrome that necessitates significant intensive care unit ...

ABSTRACT Background Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is associated with increased cardiovascular risk, but its influence on plaque characteristics at optical coherence tomography (OCT) evaluation is not fully understood. Aims This study seeks to explore the impact of Lp(a) levels on plaque morphology as assessed by OCT in a very high‐risk subset of patients ...

Morphology-based non-rigid registration of coronary computed tomography and intravascular images through virtual catheter path optimization [PDF]
Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) provides 3D information on obstructive coronary artery disease, but cannot fully visualize high-resolution features within the vessel wall. Intravascular imaging, in contrast, can spatially resolve atherosclerotic in cross sectional slices, but is limited in capturing 3D relationships between each slice ...

Should we use early less invasive hemodynamic monitoring in unstable ICU patients? [PDF]
In the previous issue of Critical Care, Takala and colleagues presented the results of a multicenter study to investigate whether the early presence of less invasive hemodynamic monitoring improves outcome in patients admitted with hemodynamic ...

ABSTRACT We report the case of a 3‐year‐old asymptomatic girl (12 kg, 96 cm) who was diagnosed with a large iatrogenic left ventricular pseudoaneurysm (LVP) on follow‐up ultrasound, 14 months after apical muscular ventricular septal defect (VSD) closure with a 10 mm Amplatzer Muscular VSD occluder (Abbott, USA) due to device erosion.
