Pulmonary veno-occlusive disease is characterized by remodeling of pulmonary arteries, capillaries and venules. We report a case of diffuse lung emphysema and pulmonary veno-occlusive disease with the characteristic of having no airflow limitation.

Patients with end-stage renal disease treated by hemodialysis with bioincompatible membranes are exposed during the dialysis period to acute effects on lung microcirculation, which may result in pulmonary fibrosis and diffusion defects in long-standing dialysis.
