Self‐Catalyzed Chemically Coalescing Liquid Metal Emulsions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new type of liquid metal emulsion is developed that chemically activates and becomes electrically conductive under mild thermal stimulus. The activation mechanism occurs through a unique set of catalytic dehalogenation and chemical oxide etching reactions. These emulsions are 3D printable and exhibit high shape retention after being heated.

Tumor Microenvironment Triggered In Situ Coagulation of Supramolecularly Engineered Platelets for Precise Tumor Embolization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Occlusion of tumor blood vessels represents a promising yet challenging approach in cancer treatment. Herein, supramolecularly engineered platelets conjugated with morphology‐transformable nanoparticles is developed for precise tumor embolization. The engineered platelets actively accumulate at tumor sites following induced blood vessel injury.

Semaphorin 3E–Plexin D1 Axis Drives Lung Fibrosis through ErbB2‐Mediated Fibroblast Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TGF‐β1 stimulation in fibroblasts leads to increased Furin expression, Furin‐mediated cleavage of P87‐Sema3E to P61‐Sema3E, which affects fibroblast function through the autocrine pathway, and the P61‐Sema3E‐PlexinD1 axis promotes fibroblast activation, proliferation and migration by affecting ErbB2 phosphorylation, which in turn activates the ErbB2 ...

MMP9High Neutrophils are Critical Mediators of Neutrophil Extracellular Traps Formation and Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During a heart attack, neutrophils rapidly activate and differentiate into a specific subset characterized by high levels of MMP9, a tissue‐damaging enzyme, via the SPI1/CST7 pathway. These neutrophils form harmful net‐like structures (Neutrophil extracellular traps, NETs) that exacerbate heart injury.

A Reversible and Dynamic Surface Functionalization for Fluidity Controlled Multivalent Recognition of Lectins and Bacteria

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A reversible wet chemical surface functionalization results in dynamic multivalent receptors showing ligand‐specific high affinity for lectins and bacteria. Abstract The paper reports the design of multivalent bacterial receptors based on reversible self‐assembled monolayers (rSAMs) on gold and glass substrates, mimicking the ligand display on host ...

Comparison of lung diffusing capacity in young elite athletes and their counterparts

open access: yesPulmonology, 2018
Background: The influence of exercise on the pulmonary function is controverse, some studies have reported no sports influence, while the others have found positive correlation.

Impact of Respiratory Developmental Stage on Sensitivity to Late Effects of Radiation in Pediatric Cancer Survivors

open access: yesAdvances in Radiation Oncology, 2020
Purpose: Pulmonary dysfunction is a prevalent and potentially debilitating late effect of pediatric cancer treatment. We postulated that age, as a surrogate for respiratory developmental status, might be associated with vulnerability to pulmonary injury.
