Treatment Trade‐Offs and Choices for Femoral Fractures: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1298-1313, May 2025.
This review examines the trade‐offs between surgical intervention and traction therapy for adult and elderly patients with femoral fractures and surgical contraindications, particularly in resource‐limited settings. Unilateral Dual‐Plane Puncture Percutaneous Vertebroplasty Reduces Re‐Collapse in Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures by Advancing Cement Delivery

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1322-1331, May 2025.
Trajectory of the unilateral dual‐plane puncture. The sagittal CT scan after surgery clearly shows the puncture trajectory of the unilateral dual‐plane puncture. The bone cement simultaneously contacted both the upper and lower end plates. ABSTRACT Purpose Evaluate the efficacy of a novel unilateral dual‐plane puncture technique in improving bone ...

Development and Validation of Daping Orthopedics Operative Risk Scoring System for Geriatric Hip Fracture (DOORS‐GHF) for Predicting Postoperative Outcomes in Geriatric Hip Fracture Patients: A Multicenter Retrospective Comparative Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
We developed and validated the DOORS‐GHF, a novel dedicated operative risk scoring system for geriatric hip fracture, which outperformed existing scores with superior predictive accuracy and clinical utility. ABSTRACT Objective With China's accelerating population aging, geriatric hip fractures pose a growing clinical challenge. High comorbidity burden

Percutaneous Vertebroplasty for Painful Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures: A Retrospective Comparative Study of a Negative Pressure‐Guided Technique

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
In 60 patients with vertebral compression fractures, negative‐pressure‐guided vertebroplasty (NPVP) promoted more uniform cement distribution and reduced cement leakage compared with conventional PVP, resulting in greater perioperative safety and improved radiographic and clinical outcomes at 3 months.

Second‐Knee C‐Reactive Protein After 1‐Week Staged Bilateral Total Knee Arthroplasty

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
In 1‐week staged bilateral total knee arthroplasty, the second knee shows higher absolute postoperative C‐reactive protein, a difference that appears driven substantially by the unresolved inflammatory floor carried over from the first operation. This paired pattern supports cautious interpretation of modest second‐knee CRP elevations during early ...
