Physiology and Pathophysiology of Pulmonary Gas Exchange
Hospital Practice, 1986Abnormal pulmonary gas exchange may result from a number of derangements of both pulmonary and nonpulmonary origin. Recognition of the mechanism of the abnormality will facilitate diagnosis and appropriate management. Using a simple model of the gas exchange unit, we can look at and analyze factors that alter the arterial blood gases in different ways.
