Acute necrotising pulmonary vasculitis and pulmonary hypertension in a juvenile dog [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A five-month-old female Jack Russell terrier was presented for investigation of acute lethargy, anorexia, coughing, respiratory distress and weakness. Examination findings included cyanosis, a grade 3 of 6 systolic heart murmur and prolonged capillary ...

Role of segmentectomy for pulmonary metastases.

open access: yesAnnals of cardiothoracic surgery, 2014
Pulmonary metastasectomy has not been proven by randomized trials to be more effective than non-operative management, but currently has a well-accepted role for certain primary cancers, in particular colorectal cancer and sarcoma. One of the principal tenets for pulmonary metastasectomy is that all lesions are resected.

Risks of segmentectomy for interstitial pneumonia with diffuse pulmonary ossification

open access: yesThoracic Cancer
AbstractAn 84‐year‐old man with a history of progressive interstitial pneumonia presented to our department with lung cancer (cT2aN0M0‐IB) in right S6. Moreover, computed tomography revealed progressive diffuse pulmonary ossification in the bilateral lower pulmonary lobes. S6 segmentectomy was performed via video‐assisted thoracoscopic surgery.

Significance of the lobe-specific emphysema index to predict prolonged air leak after anatomical segmentectomy.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Prolonged air leak (PAL) is a major complication of pulmonary resection. Emphysema quantification with computed tomography is regarded as an important predictor of PAL for patients undergoing lobectomy.

Thoracoscopic segmentectomy with simple routine bronchoscopic inflation for intersegmental plane identification: short and mid-term outcomes compared with lobectomy

open access: yes, 2020
<p>Background: The technical concepts of thoracoscopic segmentectomy are still evolving. In this study we present a simple bronchoscopy-based intersegmental demarcation technique with short- and mid-term outcomes compared between thoracoscopic ...

Impact of the Size and Depth of Pulmonary Nodules on the Surgical Approach
for Lung Resection in the Treatment of Early-stage Lung Cancer ≤2 cm

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer
Background and objective Current studies suggest that for early-stage lung cancers with a component of ground-glass opacity measuring ≤2 cm, sublobar resection is suitable if it ensures adequate margins. However, lobectomy may be necessary for some cases

Feasibility, Safety, and Early Outcomes of Image‐Guided Segmentectomy Using Near‐Infrared Fluorescence Dye for Tumor Visualization and Margin Identification: A Collaborative Effort by the Surgical and Radiological Teams

open access: yesThoracic Cancer
Introduction Despite advances in lung cancer management, it remains the leading cause of cancer‐related deaths. Low‐dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening has increased detection of small, difficult‐to‐palpate lung lesions.

Feasibility of Uniportal Thoracoscopic Right Medial-Basal (S7) Segmentectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Thoracic Surgery Short Reports
Thoracoscopic right medial-basal (S7) segmentectomy is technically challenging due to its small size, depth, and anatomical complexity, especially through a uniportal thoracoscopic approach because of the limited angulation of the surgical instruments or

Anomalous right pulmonary artery from the aorta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Anomalous origin of the right pulmonary artery is a rare form of congenital heart disease. It usually presents in early infancy with heart failure and rapid development of pulmonary hypertension. There are about 131 cases reported in the literature and
