Expert Review of Cardiovascular Therapy, 2011
The last decade has generated enormous advances in the diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities for diseases of the pulmonary valve. There have been advances in all age groups from fetus to adult, with not only the development of novel treatments (fetal interventions, new surgical strategies and percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation), but also an ...

Cardiology Clinics, 2011
The pulmonary valve consists of 3 leaflets and is similar in anatomy to the aortic valve. It is the least likely to be affected by acquired disease, and thus, most disorders affecting it are congenital. The most common hemodynamic abnormality of the pulmonary valve is the congenitally narrowed domed valve of pulmonic stenosis.

The clinical manifestations of pulmonary valve stenosis with an intact ventricular septum are determined by its severity.Often the patient is asymptomatic. The prognosis is generally good, depending on the severity of obstruction and pressure produced in the right ventricle.

Pulmonary valve papillary fibroelastoma
Echocardiography, 2020AbstractWe present a case of a 70‐year‐old woman with exertional shortness of breath. A transthoracic echocardiogram showed a large mass on the ventricular side of the pulmonary valve. The anatomy of the mass was additionally investigated with a transesophageal echocardiogram, which delineated the anatomical details of the structure.

Percutaneous Pulmonary Valve Implantation
Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery: Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Annual, 2009Percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation is a new treatment option in patients with dysfunctional conduits. The aim of percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation is to prolong the lifespan of right ventricle to pulmonary artery conduits and thereby postponing open-heart surgery.

Mechanical Pulmonary Valve Replacement
Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery: Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Annual, 2016Although most valve operations performed annually address lesions of the aortic or mitral valves, the frequency of pulmonary valve replacement (PVR) is increasing because most patients with congenital heart disease are surviving into the adult years. The vast majority of patients, especially children that require PVR, obtain a tissue valve because of ...

Pulmonary Valve Papillary Fibroelastoma
Heart, Lung and Circulation, 2009A 67-year-old woman with a past history of hypertension and type 1 diabetes mellitus, complicated by ischaemic heart disease, retinopathy and nephropathy, presented with several months of worsening dyspnoea and clinical signs of right heart failure. Transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) showed normal left ventricular systolic function with a restrictive ...

Percutaneous Pulmonary Valve Implantation
Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery: Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Annual, 2006Percutaneous implantation of valves is a fast evolving field in interventional cardiology. Acquired pulmonary valve disease is uncommon; however, right ventricular outflow tract dysfunction is one of the common indications of reoperations during late follow-up of repaired congenital heart disease.
