Dimerization‐dependent NOTCH receptor transactivation unveils a class of highly selective NOTCH signalling inhibitors

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
NOTCH signalling is indispensable for tissue homeostasis and, consequently, corruption of its normal function promotes numerous diseases, including cancer. However, the development of targeted therapies has been hampered by inefficacy and overt toxicity. Here, we show that NOTCH receptor dimerization is necessary for receptor transactivation, which has

Comparative analysis of metabolic and functional cardiac alterations in diet‐ and genetically induced mouse models of cardiac dysfunction

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Dietary and genetic stress trigger different routes to heart failure. In mice, a carbohydrate‐free high‐fat diet caused mitochondrial dysfunction and impaired energy production with preserved pumping function, while genetic obesity led to heart enlargement, fibrosis, and reduced function.

Early Use of Fentanyl Increases Risk of Delirium in Patients Transfer to the intensive Care Unit After Cardiac Surgery Immediately: A Target Trial Emulation

open access: yesJournal of Evidence-Based Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim In the post‐operative period of cardiac surgeries, the majority of patients are admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for ongoing management, where delirium frequently occurs as a complication. However, the association between various analgesic regimens and the onset of postoperative delirium in ICU patients following cardiac surgery ...

Cyclin‐dependent kinase 13 is indispensable for normal mouse heart development

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 246, Issue 4, Page 616-630, April 2025.
Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common defect in live births. The role of cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK13) in cardiogenesis and CHD was studied using a transgenic mouse model (Cdk13tm1b) carrying deletion of exons 3 and 4, causing loss of function.

Macroscopical and histological characterization of the perineal membrane and deep perineal pouch

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
The existence of the deep transverse perineal muscle remains controversial. While the macroscopic appearance of the tissue in the deep perineal pouch differs between men and women, the differences in the histological composition of this fibromuscular plate is still unclear.

Association Between Perioperative Sleep Disorders and Post‐Operative Delirium in Cardiac Surgeries: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
Overview of studies included in the systematic review investigating the association between perioperative sleep disorders (PSD) and postoperative delirium (POD) in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. ABSTRACT Post‐operative delirium (POD) is an acute deterioration in cognitive function and highly prevalent after cardiac surgery (CS; up to 55 ...

ALCAPA Presents in an Adult with Exercise Intolerance but Preserved Cardiac Function

open access: yesCase Reports in Cardiology, 2012
Anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) is a rare congenital anomaly that usually manifests as severe left-sided heart failure and mitral valve insufficiency during the first one to two months of life. The majority

Population Pharmacokinetics of Sildenafil in Dogs With Naturally Occurring Pulmonary Hypertension

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The pharmacokinetics of sildenafil are ill‐defined in dogs with naturally occurring pulmonary hypertension (PH). Because the plasma concentrations of sildenafil have not been reported for dogs with this disease, this study aimed to describe the population pharmacokinetics of sildenafil in a sample of dogs with PH. Twenty client‐owned dogs with
