Permissive role of reduced inwardly-rectifying potassium current density in the automaticity of the guinea pig pulmonary vein myocardium

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2017
The electrophysiological properties underlying the automaticity of the guinea pig pulmonary vein myocardium were studied. About 30% of the isolated pulmonary vein tissue preparations showed spontaneous electrical activity, as shown by glass ...

Pulmonary Vein Occlusion and Lung Infarction after Radiofrequency Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesCase Reports in Pulmonology, 2020
Background. Pulmonary vein (PV) radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is an effective technique for a selected group of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) refractory to antiarrhythmic drugs (Alfudhili et al., 2017).

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Pulmonary Vein in a Pinch

open access: yesMethodist DeBakey Cardiovascular Journal
The pulmonary veins normally drain into the left atrium, with the superior pulmonary veins typically situated anterior and inferior to the right pulmonary arteries. However, anomalies can happen. We encountered an exceedingly rare pulmonary vascular anomaly for a patient presenting with atypical chest pain, where the right superior pulmonary vein ...

HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

Impact of Stress‐Induced Hyperglycemia on In‐Hospital Medical Complications in Patients With Acute Stroke: From a Large‐Scale Nationwide Longitudinal Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims This study aimed to explore the relationship between stress‐induced hyperglycemia (SIH) and in‐hospital medical complications in patients with acute stroke. Methods We enrolled 865,765 patients with acute stroke from the Chinese Stroke Center Alliance cohort.

Bigeminal Pulmonary Vein Ectopy Suppressed by Pulmonary Vein Isolation

open access: yesInternational Heart Journal, 2008
A 58-year-old man with atrial fibrillation underwent pulmonary vein (PV) isolation (PVI). Bigeminal atrial premature beats persisted from the beginning of the PVI. The cardiac recordings from a basket catheter (BC) revealed the PV ectopic origin in the distal right superior PV.
