Seeing inside the Body Using Wearable Sensing and Imaging Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores wearable technologies for noninvasive internal health monitoring. It categorizes approaches into indirect sensing (e.g., bioelectrical and biochemical signals) and direct imaging (e.g., wearable ultrasound and EIT), highlighting multimodal integration and system‐level innovation toward personalized, continuous healthcare.

Dual-drainage pulmonary venous return of the left upper lobe

open access: yesAnnals of Pediatric Cardiology
Dual drainage of a pulmonary vein is an unusual anomaly of pulmonary venous drainage. While being evaluated for hypertension, a child was found with dual drainage of the upper left lobe through a vertical vein that connects to the normal pulmonary vein ...

Integrin β4‐Enriched Small Extracellular Vesicle as Drug Delivery Vehicle for Targeting Pulmonary Metastasis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The expression of integrin β4 (ITGβ4) on small extracellular vesicle (sEV) correlates with lung‐tropism. Enrichment of ITGβ4 on sEVs enhances their lung‐targeting ability. The sEVs loaded with doxorubicin exhibit superior therapeutic efficacy in a lung metastasis mouse model.

Electrophysiological and Pharmacological Characteristics of Triggered Activity Elicited in Guinea-Pig Pulmonary Vein Myocardium

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2011
The pulmonary vein is known as an important source of ectopic beats, initiating frequent paroxysms of atrial fibrillation. We analyzed electrophysiological and pharmacological characteristics of triggered activity elicited in the isolated pulmonary vein ...

Rate‐dependent and unidirectional conduction block between the left pulmonary vein and left atrium after catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2020
A 77‐year‐old woman with symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) underwent pulmonary vein isolation (PVI), but subsequently experienced recurrence.

Arterialization of Central Pulmonary Vein

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2011
, Online Figs. 3 to 5, Online Video 1) revealed uniform nar-rowing of the central vein with severe ostial stenosis. Central pulmonary-vein obstruction isknown to trigger progressive medial hypertrophy and intimal fibrosis of the affected venoustree (1). Gradually, venous pressure and waveform arterialize.

Experience with the autologous pulmonary vein for pulmonary arterioplasty [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2011
Lobectomy with pulmonary artery resection and reconstruction is seldom performed in order to avoid pneumonectomy in selected cases. The aim of this study is to determine how safe and effective the graft reconstruction of the pulmonary artery is, using autologous tissue taken from the pulmonary vein.Eight patients with diagnosed non-small-cell lung ...

Body Biofluids for Minimally‐Invasive Diagnostics: Insights, Challenges, Emerging Technologies, and Clinical Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Recent advances in diagnostics have accelerated the development of miniaturized wearable technologies for the continuous monitoring of diseases. This paradigm is shifting healthcare away from invasive, centralized blood tests toward decentralized monitoring, using alternative body biofluids.

Management of asymptomatic pulmonary vein aneurysm

open access: yesRespiratory Medicine Case Reports, 2017
Aneurysm of a pulmonary vein is a rare vascular anomaly that is usually discovered incidentally as a pulmonary nodule or mediastinal mass. Most patients do not have any symptoms but some patients can present with dyspnea, hemoptysis, or cerebral ...

Evaluating Pulmonary Vein Isolation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2008
AbstractPulmonary vein isolation is the electrophysiological endpoint of complete conduction block at the level of the veno‐atrial junction and must be explicitly distinguished from encircling PV ablation which frequently does not result in isolation. The prerequisites for successful PV isolation include a knowledge of the individual anatomy of the PVs ...
