Pulmonary vein isolation in a patient with dextrocardia

EP Europace, 2012
A 61-year-old lady with known dextrocardia and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) was referred for ablation. Computed tomography (CT) of the thorax (frontal plan as shown in Figure 1 …

Pulmonary vein isolation alone vs. more extensive ablation with defragmentation and linear ablation of persistent atrial fibrillation: the EARNEST-PVI trial.

Europace, 2020
AIMS Previous studies could not demonstrate any benefit of more intensive ablation in addition to pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) including complex fractionated atrial electrogram (CFAE) and linear ablation for recurrence in the initial catheter ablation ...

An unusual complication of a pulmonary vein isolation

Journal of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology, 2009
A 59 year old patient with drug refractory paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) was referred for a pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). He complained of severe chest pain during the procedure. Subtle ST segment elevation was noted in the high lateral territory (I & aVL). He had no risk factors for coronary artery disease.

Safety and outcome of very high-power short-duration ablation using 70 W for pulmonary vein isolation in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.

Europace, 2019
AIMS Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) using radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) is effective but hampered by pulmonary vein reconnection due to insufficient ablation lesions.

Comparison of myocardial injury and inflammation after pulmonary vein isolation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation between radiofrequency catheter ablation and cryoballoon ablation

Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, 2020
Several studies have shown the serum high sensitive cardiac troponin I (hs‐TnI) a biomarker of myocardium injury, and C‐reactive protein (CRP), a biomarker of inflammation, are associated with worse cardiovascular outcomes.

Balloon Catheters for Pulmonary Vein Isolation

Herz Kardiovaskuläre Erkrankungen, 2008
The mainstay of catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) is pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). The shortcomings of a point-by-point ablation approach using radiofrequency current steadily kindle the interest in new energy sources and catheter designs.

Ablation index‐guided 50 W ablation for pulmonary vein isolation in patients with atrial fibrillation: Procedural data, lesion analysis, and initial results from the FAFA AI High Power Study

Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, 2019
Radiofrequency high‐power ablation appears to be a novel concept for atrial fibrillation (AF). The ablation index (AI) value has been associated with durability of pulmonary vein isolation (PVI).

Common pulmonary vein on the recurrence of atrial tachyarrhythmia after pulmonary vein isolation

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 2019
AbstractAimsCatheter ablation has become an effective treatment modality for atrial fibrillation (AF). However, the relationship between common pulmonary vein (PV) and recurrent atrial tachyarrhythmia (ATA) after PV isolation (PVI) remains controversial.

Different strategies for performing pulmonary vein isolation in patients with pulmonary vein rhythm

Heart and Vessels, 2011
Pulmonary vein (PV) isolation was performed in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients whose cardiac rhythm was dominated by the ectopic beats originating from the PV. We herein report two cases with dominant PV ectopic rhythm that underwent catheter ablation for the treatment of paroxysmal AF.

A multicentered evaluation of ablation at higher power guided by ablation index: Establishing ablation targets for pulmonary vein isolation

Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, 2019
Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) using high power delivered by SmartTouch Surround Flow (STSF) catheters guided by ablation index (AI) was evaluated in a multicenter registry.
