Update on innovative surgical techniques for omphalectomy in foals
Summary Umbilical infection is a common foal disorder, prone to complications, requiring surgical excision in severe cases. Timely surgical excision is the treatment of choice in these cases, as the infected umbilicus places the foal at risk for further fatal complications, such as sepsis and septic arthritis.

Psychogenic polydipsia in dogs – a review of pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment
Polyuria and polydipsia represent a common clinical presentation in dogs and may result from numerous disorders affecting different body systems. AbstractBackgroundThrombosis of the pulmonary vein stump is a common complication after a left upper lobectomy and can be a source of embolism in various organs, such as the kidneys. A renal infarction, on the other hand, is a rare and often lethal condition that is usually diagnosed postmortem.

Implementing a dual‐branch architecture where ViT‐B/16 or ResNet50 processed standardized radiographs (metal artifact suppression, 512 × 512 resolution) while Clinical‐BERT encoded structured electronic records. A novel dynamic attention mechanism generated sample‐specific weights (α) for feature fusion (α·v_img + (1‐α)·v_txt), with performance ...

Thrombus Formation in the Pulmonary Vein Stump after Left Upper Lobectomy: A Report of Four Cases
Left upper lobectomy may be followed by complications such as thrombus formation in a stump of the left superior pulmonary vein (LSPV), which may cause systemic embolization. We have encountered four such cases, which account for 3.4% of all left upper lobectomies performed at our institution.

Blood stasis may cause thrombosis in the left superior pulmonary vein stump after left upper lobectomy [PDF]
We previously reported that arterial infarction of vital organs after lobectomy might occur only after left upper lobectomy and be caused by thrombosis in the left superior pulmonary vein stump. We hypothesized that changes in blood flow, such as blood stasis and disturbed stagnant flow, in the left superior pulmonary vein stump cause thrombosis, and ...

Thoracoscopic epicardial AF ablation in heart failure improved LV systolic function irrespective of left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO). Concomitant surgical LAAO was associated with fewer LPV reconnections without worsening postoperative diastolic function, while atrial tachyarrhythmia recurrence was similar between groups.
